Asking a bunch of 18-22 year olds to give up a payday for principles is a lot to ask. I'm sure a few will. But these kids aren't generally that politically engaged let alone motivated by politics. There are around 30 of them a year. If they all forgo Texas and Bama for Oregon, USC, Washington, PSU, Mich, Wisconsin, no reason any of them would need to take a pay cut. And it takes pressure on their parents as much as pressure on them. Pressure from the church. Pressure from the community. Cultural pressure. I don't think it's all that impractical.
