Its just strange that the biggest rule in hiring throughout any government agency is the non discrimination factor.  Especially gender and of course race.   Yet the potus candidates can freely and openly disregard it.

It's an election not a job application. You want to cover as many bases as possible. African Americans would like to see the first black VP. Women would like to see the first woman VP. So you attach a black woman VP to the old white guy. 

Trump is a philandering "very pro choice"  New Yorker...so you attach a pro-life, anti-gay, extreme conservative who will never be alone in a room with another women other than his wife from Indiana.

Good point.  But at the end of the day,  ita a government paying job and should follow ethical guidelines 1st and foremost.  Hiring someone based on gender or race is far from ethical.
