I mean PayPal, Telsa, SpaceX maybe one is by accident and he got lucky but not hit after hit. I can see the insane part as well but aren't most geniuses like that.

When I asked how he would get hydrogen bombs, he didn't really have an answer. Bear in mind, this meeting was about lending money to Solar City, so...(as an aside, he stuffed Solar City into TSLA to hide its failure). As for SpaceX, TSLA, etc. -- remember, just because you have a market value of billions doesn't mean you've actually generated a return. Musk and other "unicorn company" founders (Uber, SNAP, AirBNB, etc.) have been beneficiaries of easy monetary policies that prop up valuations and make people invest based on very long time horizons. Said another way -- none of these companies actually make money. Clearly, he could sell Tesla or SpaceX for billions upon billions tomorrow and win the game. But that only lasts as long as the easy money lasts. Cuban sold out to Yahoo at the height of the bubble and monetized all his YHOO stock to get billions -- THAT's a genius.
