The Texas outlier (which happened three times in 40 years btw) caused the deaths of 100s (among other impacts that still longer) and is preventable using well known and readily available winterization techniques. The cost of not accounting for this outlier is incredibly high. The odd minor who accompanies an adult across the border for some nefarious reason is something that can be accounted for during interviews, but doesn't represent the tremendous cost if we miss one or two. It's an asinine comparison.

All people who could have prepared themselves better for something like this Meanwhile, just in the last 10 years how many sex trafficking victims or murderers do you suppose have crossed that border?
February 28, 20215 yr There were 86 in the Austin area alone that froze to death, as of two days ago anyway. And I'm not advocating for open borders, nor am I saying we should not separately interview minors and those who claim to be their families at the border. So I'm not sure what I'm not addressing here. The entire point I made is that the critical difference between what Biden is doing and what Trump did is the forceful and permanent separation of children from their families among those who crossed the border purely to fulfill some sick fantasy that if we're brutal enough people will stop coming. It's the same "tough on crime" arguments we heard a generation ago that have failed; tough on crime didn't stop crime, it just made more people criminals. Just stop.

And I addressed that point already. There may be a view that if you prevent people from coming then you endanger fewer people. Its your TDS that caused you to assume it’s all just part of some "sick fantasy”
