Funny thing is, the reason that tweet jumped out at me is because Xcel was my client for the previous 3-4 years. I was a lead architect on their AMI program so I know very well the meter technology they have out in the field. The ONLY way they could nefariously control peoples thermostats is via smart meters HAN capabilities (which would also require the end user to hook up their thermostat to their meter, which no one is going to do because no one f'n uses AMI HAN anymore) and that effort was still in early discussions when I left in January. So it would be impossible to utilize their meters, the only hardware Xcel owns on the property, to do that. I asked myself "If they don't have HAN enabled, how did Xcel do this?". So I did something crazy: I opened and read the article.

Ahh thank you Professor Vikas. I was typing in a hurry, and truth be told I dont concentrate on correct spelling, in the business world, I use spell check and auto correct/ auto fill but duly noted. Just glad your superior intellect was able to decipher it. And I still bet the idea was from a leftist.
