But on the other hand is the executives. I think they're the ones praying he wins and I wonder/think that this could be behind organizations like the Washington Post or LA Times declining to endorse a candidate. The reporters are up in arms, but it's the executives that make the decisions... business decisions. If President Trump wins, those media organizations will rake in a lot of money and their ratings will greatly improve because their target audiences will begin tuning back in. I think there's an issue on the publisher side, but I also think there's just as big of an issue on the editor side of things. It's almost like stories are going through that shouldn't be, and stories aren't going through that should. Take this scene from All the Presidents Men. You have Ben Bradlee getting a big story, but he edits the ish out of it, not because of the story itself, but how it was pieced together. He lets Woodstein keep going on their story, but gives them appropriate direction. I think the issue is one of the peter principle; you have editors that don't know how to push and pull their journalists at the same time, and don't know how to deal with the publishers and push back on them. Honestly, I think a lack of leadership is endemic across the board, a multitude of industries. For whatever reason anecdotally it seems like each generation has a smaller pool of people with effective leadership skills, and I think what we're seeing with the press is a result of that effect on that industry.

Look at the latest Bloomberg/Quinnipiac polls for MI/PA for example. I'm being very pessimistic about this election and even I have it at 55/45 Trump right now.

We had a field trip to the Washington Post and we were touring the offices and were in I guess what you'd call the 'news room' where all the reporters had desks and he just happened to be in there or walked past or something and saw a group of kids taking the tour (by group, I mean 40 kids maybe), and walked over to say hello and I was one of the kids that he shook hands with. I don't really have super clear memories of it, so I think it was probably 3rd or 4th grade. 5th grade my teacher's brother in law was Orioles catcher Rick Dempsey, so I got to meet him. Met a Congresswoman in 6th grade. About a month after I met her, she had a massive heart attack and fell into an 8 year coma before dying in 1988. The Baltimore-Washington Parkway was re-named for her.
