"There's no way this country wnats a woman, let alone a black woman, to be in charge". It's just not going to happen. I'm voting for a straight white guy in the democratic primary in 4 years. Sorry not sorry The first female president will likely be a Republican

November 6, 20241 yr 1 minute ago, mr_hunt said: that's the thing. there is no likable female for that segment of the voting population. they don't see a woman as a strong leader. Scarborough was right; there need to be some honest, frank discussions in their post-mortem. Black guys weren't enthusiastic about her (as per Obama) and Latinos really deserted her.
November 6, 20241 yr 6 minutes ago, Gannan said: The best I can come up with is just people didn't feel like coming out to vote for her. Trump got about the same as he did last time around, but well over 10 million who voted for Biden just didn't think it was worth the effort. My theory is that 4 years ago everything was shut down, and people voted because they had nowhere to go and not much going on. They were sick of Trump, and just made the effort to vote because there was not much else to do. This time around they just couldn't be bothered. Neither candidate was worth the effort, stuff is expensive and they hate it, but it isn't stopping them from spending 2k a piece on Taylor Swift floor seats, and who care who wins the election? It's a cynical take but that's what my intuition says based on the returns. Shapiro would not have changed any of that. Walz was barely a bump in Minnesota. I feel like Shapiro does similar for PA. Only more catastrophic since Trump carried PA at the end of the day. It is career-ending for Shapiro if he's on the ticket and can't carry the state.
November 6, 20241 yr Over 10 million people who voted for Biden didn't vote for Harris. Let's blame the Trump voters and say the country is a NSDAP fascist regime and the handmaid's tale!

He jsut felt that he wasn't governor long enough and really want to do that for a while. He obviously made the right call.

I'll need to crunch some of the demographics when they're published, but I saw on CBS last night that Trump had 44% of the female vote. If women don't even want a female President, Democrats need to stop kidding themselves. i think they run with shapiro. since there won't be a dem incumbent, it makes sense. so of course, the dems will do something stupid.

It's that they didn't want this particular female candidate as president. Hillary wasn't a great option either.

I also think a majority of our male population will NEVER vote for a woman.

On the surface it makes sense that a smart guy would read things and say nah. I think he's the right choice, but I think they have a problem in that party trying to balance the Muslim population in a few swing states and the pro-Palestine faction with the far left whack jobs and the moderates. While not the same or apples to apples it's like having a pro choice GOP candidate.

I haven't double checked, but assuming they're accurate, it points to shenanigans in the 2020 election. Only speaking to the last two points why is the assumption Dems and Magas sat out. Maybe some of them did sit out or vote third party. Maybe some of them switched sides this time around. Lastly, maybe less people were energized this time around.
