I have elderly parents (one has passed). Old people have good days and bad days. However, were he to be re-elected he would start having more bad days than good if he isn't already.

For sure and they must have known that there was a solid risk heading into last night.

Grandma isn’t the president and the nominee. He has to agree to step down. And I’m not so sure he will. At least not with enough time.

If the DNC, Obama, Jill, etc. call it then he will step down.

Of course. But nobody wants to hear facts from their president.

On some level that's always been so - but only to a degree that constituted normal for a politician / candidate.

Trump just lies, and the sad part is that those who support him want the lies so badly that now the lies have become their safe space alternate reality.

Dems have plenty of options beyond Harris.  Reps wish it was between Joe and Kamala, but Dems can go with anyone they want.  All it takes is for Joe to make the call (which is obviously the big if, but if he didn't see it as an option, then he wouldn't have decided on a June debate).  Should probably be Newsom, which means it can't be Kamala as his VP (California law blocks it; the Dems F'ing themselves once again in favor of playing it fair).

I know its a minority opinion. But if Joe resigns the presidency let's her take the reigns and be the incumbent and the nominee, it gives them the best chance to win. I think Newsome is a better candidate, but I think the dems would piss off Harris' base. She does actually have one. People of color are rallying around her.

It's a crying shame we only have that freeze to gush about, there were plenty of face plants all night from both of them that are barely mentioned. The black jobs debate was especially painful, I literally howled when trump name dropped black friend Tim Scott with no apparent context.

Think it's pretty clear he was talking about lower income jobs that have been having wages artificially suppressed by the massive influx of people willing to work for less.

Forget November. President Biden's obvious and serious cognitive deficiencies has me concerned about what he may decide is a good idea next week. Is he fit to finish this term? I certainly don't want that giggling 2nd rate beauty pageant contestant Kama-lama-ding-dong to take up the oval office. So, can the President's handlers keep things sane for 4+ months? I guess we're gonna find out. After that, oh boy...

I really dont grasp why Harris bothers people so much.

no doubt the party has 101% bungled her role and visibility in this admin but she is not dumb nor a woke loon

She would have to go in as POTUS.  She would have zero chance if she stayed VP and got the nomination.

Are they? I think Whitmer is just a much stronger mate this time around. White suburban rust belt women are THE demographic needed for a rust belt sweep and she's actually very popular and polished right now.

Biden supporters casting stones about "alternate reality" is cute after last night

I think that's their only realistic option unless they change their entire nomination rules.  Primaries are done, delegates are assigned.

And I'm not even sure about the state level rules about getting on the ballots, that might even be too late.

they might wait a week or two so see how much this moves the polls first.

Might do but he's already losing so I'm not so sure they will wait

It's all about his age, never mind he won on substance of the issues. Joe must go, am I right.

I'm a well known fan of Black Momma Kamala in here, never strayed from her as the VEEP even after the debate dustup with charter schools. I'd replace her at this point with somebody that's got better analytics.  It's the compromise smart thing to do.

That's what I'm thinking.

Surely you can see the concerns about his mental facilities are legit at this point

If anyone wants a positive spin if Biden stays in the race this is the best I got...

Fetterman had a stroke and was even worse in his debate and still won.

John Ashcroft lost to a dead guy.

Would stink much of racial bias

It isn't about the age itself, it's the state of mental decline

We’ll see. Every major left wing outlet is calling for it, CNN Dems said that insiders are calling for it. And yet the Biden camp came out and said no.
