July 2, 20241 yr Hasn't even been a week and the news cycle is already purging the debate headlines to make room for the immunity ruling.

I think Rupar needs to get a g'damn grip. Nothing's changed except the stakes just got a whole lot higher. Biden's done and he needs to step down. Hopefully the media's screaming continues. Honestly, the media has even more of a reason to push for Biden to step down now. If Trump wins, they're out of business and in prison.

Trump as commander in chief of the military engages in a purely constitutional function and his orders to the military to shoot the protestors is an official act thus he is immune from prosecution. FIRE.
July 2, 20241 yr Under this ruling, Richard Nixon would not have resigned and would not have been impeached because his Actions were official acts. No to mention that no Prosecutor alive would have been able to obtain the tape recordings.

July 2, 20241 yr It's a 4-year job. People are acting as though voters won't have a problem electing someone, while knowing that person is only going to be around for a fraction of that term. Neither current candidate is remotely suitable; it's a pretty sad state of affairs if neither party shows interest in giving voters at least one viable alternative.

I distinctly remember posting in real time that the cops should be shooting Jan 6 insurrectionists yet Trump did nothing at all. Protesters remaining lawful and exercising their right should be treated fairly. Those that break police lines and storm the Capitol should be shot. There is a clear difference and Trump is on the wrong side of the moral line (as he always is). The man is morally bankrupt.

Welcome to America where old people in denial about being old as F, go out in force to vote for other old people who are also old as F.

His campaign has already said should he need to drop out that it all goes to Harris After the debate though, even loyalists are (apparently) beginning to look elsewhere and if he drops out or is pushed out, they'd be free to become someone else's loyalist. Would they be so loyal to him that they'd march in lockstep with his order to support "candidate X"? Maybe, but I'd hope that people would be able to decide for themselves and not just robotically obey orders like that. Would Harris be the best choice to win the all important Independent voters? Thus far, I haven't seen any evidence of that but I only (less than) causally keep up with politics. What I have seen about her though has mostly been negative.

Which brings us back to the 2020 primaries, the last time they reasonably were able to decide for themselves, where the guy who was the biggest threat to Biden was even older than him. Hell, you'd have to go all the guy who came in 5th with 2% of the votes to find someone who was under the age of 70. Sanders, Warren, and Bloomberg are all old as F too. There is no silver bullet here.

But after yesterday's ruling, the stakes just got way, way too high for him to be the nominee. Either the Dem wins or we 100% don't have another election ever. And in no world is it worth hanging onto some tradition when the existence of the Republic is in the balance.
