DOOOOEEETTTTT.  Parachute to the podium with ANTIFA and promise to deport Notzees.

Macron's defeat last week says a lot about where all this is headed.  The far left is sick and tired of compromising and they are ready to let the centrist coalitions die, allow the far right to take power and climb the ladder as the resistance.

If they are thinking that, which I don't think very many of them are, it's literally the dumbest strategy in history.  Based on yesterday's ruling, there's no ladder to climb.  It's the end.

damage control.....

They are watching how the far right took a rabid 15-20%, converted it to 35-40% and are now on the doorstep of basically running the western world with it. The left is looking at their rabid 20% and saying we can do that too.

Except they can't.  If they wanted to they should've taken their stand decades ago.  And of course they'd have to change their DNA because no one would ever rally behind the types of leaders they prefer.  But, again, that's irrelevant.  The powers afforded to the Presidency now make slowly building a political coalition impossible.

Yeah on that nice leather chair

It's a 4-year job.  People are acting as though voters won't have a problem electing someone, while knowing that person is only going to be around for a fraction of that term.  Neither current candidate is remotely suitable; it's a pretty sad state of affairs if neither party shows interest in giving voters at least one viable alternative.

Trump could run for re-election, then lose and refuse to leave saying that he needs to stay in office to defend america from communists. He can then have anyone who tries to stop him arrested or killed. All officials acts....immune. Elections are now meaningless.

imagine a 2nd term when he has immunity.

official act !!

This just in RFK Jr jumps ten points in the polls...

I'm glad the timing of the immunity ruling happened after the debate so that people can finally come back to reality instead of pretending both candidates are equally bad choices.

You keep laughing.  You really think things will be better when orange man gets back in?  I really want to know

He's laughing because he doesn't have a counter point but he's still wants attention.  He's well aware that the ruling created an autocracy.  But he's happy about it because he thinks it'll be his preferred autocracy.

just this part would've been fine.

I would be shocked if your election in November doesn't end up at the Supreme Court in January; I've felt that way for a long time.  If Biden appears to be the winner, it won't be just Trump whining about a rigged election.  He has the entire Republican apparatus onside with him.

The only way MAGA and Trumpism is eradicated is to get rid of Trump.  The cult dies when the cult leader dies.  This tomfoolery from the Supreme Court might drive certain people to desperation.  If you can't get rid of him by electoral means at the ballot box, can't get rid of him by the judicial system because of a corrupt SCOTUS -- that leaves people with very few options.

I believe there are many people, geopolitically speaking, who cannot afford for Trump to take office.  People sympathetic to Ukraine and Palestine come to mind immediately.

He did in 2020 also and it failed to make a difference. The make up for the SCOTUS was the same as it is today and not a single case of note was heard. It'll depend on the margins in the swing states, of course, but barring some actual evidence of fraud, it'll end up the same as it did last time. Of course, Biden being in power during the election with full immunity for "official acts" gives him the theoretical power to tell Harris not to certify. He won't use it, of course, since he's not a psycho but that's the only real difference from 4 years ago.

The first consequence of unlimited power just dropped.

Spoiler

The Biden administration told emergency room doctors they must perform emergency abortions when necessary to save a pregnant woman’s health, following last week’s Supreme Court ruling that failed to settle a legal dispute over whether state abortion bans override a federal law requiring hospitals to provide stabilizing treatment.

If true, that's amazing and he deserves credit for it.

It's just an objective fact.  16M jobs gained.  Economic soft landing after taking over a disaster.  Record stock market.  Brought crime back down from the Trump crime spike.

But I'm sympathetic.  I understand that sometimes words are violence and reading those words hurt you, so I apologize.

Yeah, but that ish doesn’t get ratings. He isn’t wrong about that.

It doesn't even have to be fact checked.

You just read it and immediately start busting out laughing at all the people you know will believe it and share it.

Which brings us back to the 2020 primaries, the last time they reasonably were able to decide for themselves, where the guy who was the biggest threat to Biden was even older than him. Hell, you'd have to go all the guy who came in 5th with 2% of the votes to find someone who was under the age of 70. Sanders, Warren, and Bloomberg are all old as F too. There is no silver bullet here.

Well, if you all insist, I can throw my LII Champions hat into the ring. If elected, I'll post our Amazon link directly onto the official White House website... funding for the EMB will be secured for a long time!

Also, my first executive order on day 1 will render void all Super Bowl victories that the Giants, Cowboys and Redskins lay claim to and I will direct the FBI to confiscate all trophies that were issued to them. Oh, I'll also void the Fog Bowl... game should have been postponed until the fog passed!
