Your regular reminder that countries all over the world manage to run elections including full campaigns in much less than half the time that Harris or AN Other would have to pitch to the US people following the Democratic convention. The idea that a new nominee would face an impossible task is honestly questionable.

What the Dems need more than anything is a set of policies and a positive campaign to vote for them, if they spend another 3 months running a "we're not Trump" campaign they'll struggle. Run a campaign telling the average Joe how your policies will improve things for them, say this is what we'll do on taxes, foreign policy, health, national infrastructure and employment and how it will improve your life, don't talk about improving conditions for business, talk about how it directly improves things for people.

Don't overthink it.

Roe v Wade and not being Trump should just about do it. Anything else you can effectively communicate is icing on the cake.

If you want a truly transformational candidate then you're going to have to wait for Pete.

If Harris is the presidential pick, they need a older white guy VP pick. Preferably a veteran.

Whoever it is, will be running against a Trump platform of lies, stupidity, racism, and fear, in a party in disarray, as if they were the ones to lose their pick last minute. Let the GOP eat itself to death. I predict a low GOP turnout.

It might very well be the votes from women to sink Drumpf.

I think the Dems need to do better than Harris.  I don't know who that might be, but Harris seems more intellectually challenged than Joe.

If Joe could manage to take down Trump as a last gasp, that would be a win-win for the USA

The next time Trump does something for America, will be the first time Trump does something for America.

I think Donald is going to have to do it himself, sadly.

An open convention would be great viewing and bring a bunch of needed enthusiasm to the Democratic Party, but at this point it’s late in the game.  The delegates will line up behind Harris and the only compelling question is who the VP nominee will be.

There may have been some method in Biden’s madness staying in as long as he did — this way Harris’ chances of being the presumptive nominee are very high.  She wouldn’t be my choice if I was a Democrat Strategist, but she’s got a real fighting chance and some genuine enthusiasm behind her — which is more than what Biden had.

There's nothing genuine about the enthusiasm behind her. Lol.

Well, it is easy to make this sort of mistake, when you are a cultist who expects the other side to have flotillas with flags bearing her name.

My man just got shot in the ear and within a week everyone has forgotten about it. Now he's got to run against someone without dimentia.

Dude's coming unglued

To be honest, I think the timing of Biden making his decision after, rather than before the attack, kinda does blunt the impact of it and helps to boost Harris' profile in comparison to the inverse.

Strategically speaking, Kelly or Shapiro would be better options.

As opposed to the outrage against her which is very much genuine and not based in BS at all. Excellent point.

Trump beaten by a black woman.

That would be something.

The signs of dementia have always been there. On his good days he talks about sharks attacking electric boats, and on his bad days...

An actual astronaut vs a guy who mumbles about nuking hurricanes. The choice between science vs stupidity.
