He may not be far off...obviously too early.

This is unfolding as a nightmare scenario for Trump.  Dude gets shot at and can't stay on the front page for a week. ALL the talk is going to be about first Kamala and then the juicy bloodbath of a VEEP pick. Trump always wants to be front page and center of attention. That's the entirety of his strategy and air that he breathes and it's going to be very difficult to pierce through this Democrat drama with his lame crypto bro VEEP.

Still working on it I guess.

Most of us are. I feel bad for the ones that are not.

Close, but you can object and be given a non-combat role. Not really a decision about your body, moreso than your time/freedom. To be clear, I think conscription is archaic and stupid as F. Plus we don't even need it anymore, mandatory registration should be a thing of the past.

We needed a draft to fight against Vietnam.

How many favors did our troop levels do in OEF and OIF?

Mandatory registration exists for a reason. We’re gonna need one if things kick off with China. TBH we may even need one if things kick off with Russia.

Eh just send eastern Europe some 30 year old military equipment, a training manual and few cases of Horlika and we're good

I said it wasn't needed anymore and to refute that point you bring up a war from 50 years ago?

There’s more to it than that.

We got lucky against Iraq twice in terms of a conventional war. Fighting a middle eastern nation is like playing war on easy mode.

50 years is nothing.

JFC just because it’s a long time to you doesn’t mean it’s a long time when you, you know, zoom TF out and look at history as a whole.

Do I really come off so ignorant that you think I genuinely believe we can fight a full scale war with Javelins and Ukrainian moonshine? 😢

VN was not a necessary war, therefore, no draft was needed. I’m happy to have served with volunteers. The draft is BS because it’s easily avoided by people with money. It’s effing barbaric.

No, 50 years is a super long time when it comes to how we wage war. We have manned aircraft with an RCS orders of magnitude smaller than the ones we piloted back then, an array of unmanned aircraft that no longer put the lives of pilots at risk, advanced precision guided munitions, comms, intel, sensor fusion, AI/ML, etc. Not to even mention how a large chunk of ops in a modern day hot war with a near peer adversary will involve cyber warfare.

Cyber warfare ops are usually cited by people who don’t know F all about warfare. A computer chip can’t hold terrain.

Go back to watching American Heroes Channel or wherever ever else you get your dumb takes.

Yeah because that's exactly what I said, that cyber warfare would be used exclusively and that computer chips can hold terrain. Go home, Bill, you're drunk.

Agreed that Vietnam was unnecessary.

That said, over half of all US personnel in WWII were drafted. The draft exists because it’s needed.

Every now and again you get a Sgt. York. Most of the time you get some poor kid who has to go through hell.

Little late on this one but, just saw this and it's really bad when it's side by side.

Trump is in shambles

Old news bro. The world has moved on.

Kamala is the candidate, Trump is the old senile fart. Get up to speed!

Oh, right, I’m sorry, you also brought up *checks notes* aircraft with a reduced RCS.

Yeah I’m sure our less than two hundred F-22s, twenty some B-2s, and not to the numbers of what we need of F-35s are really going to tip the scales in terms of beating China.

And the precision guided weapons. That’ll really do it since Ukraine is showing us that in protracted wars the big thing needed is massed fires.

The big advances are ISR, but that still doesn’t reduce the need for bodies.

Every war that ever happened was more technologically advanced than the war before it, and yet somehow the advances didn’t lead to less soldiers needed.

I went down a rabbit hole on YouTube and that video popped up lol.

Also there are still plenty of people saying joe was always this bad. Video says otherwise.

Honestly I get the impression that it’s Parkinson’s. He knows what to say and is smart enough to say it, it just doesn’t come out right. I think he’s still got his wits about him, he just can verbalize it like he used to.

I mean, he had two weeks to un-F the debate performance. Shame he couldn’t do it.

Agreed, he looks like every thought in his mind is a major struggle to put into words.

Wait til you find out about the sloped roof and the ear bandage!

We didn't need less troops in recent wars than in WW2 and Vietnam?  Hmmmkay!
