Generally we need to see consistent 3 or 4 pt leads in national polls by September, but one factor that I think comes back into play now that Biden is out and Harris is in, is that the closet vote now swings back to Trump. People were obviously less than enthusiastic about Biden and were less likely to respond to polls declaring their intention to vote for him. The so-called "Hold your nose" voters were probably heavier to Biden than Trump, but now that Harris is at the top of the ticket, that dynamic flips with Trump voters becoming less likely to declare their intention over Harris voters. Meaning Harris' lead in national polls might even need to balloon up to 6 or 7 pts by November if that holds true.
