Trump saw the bs talk radio and Fox News were feeding viewers/listeners for ratings and put the costume on they had already assembled. That’s why I don’t think the magat craziness will die with trump, some other crazies will pick up the torch.

The key to Trump's rise wasn't necessarily the initial support of talk radio, it was that the voters he needed to reach had already been programmed for decades to respond to what he was saying and how he was saying it. He talks like a talk radio caller. No idea what he's talking about policy-wise but the country's always garbage and he's always a victim.
