I'm sure it'll drop more with Harris in, but I have a very hard time believing his share has ever pulled more from the Dems than from Trump. And by the election, just like every other 3rd party candidate, he'll be sitting at around 1%.

RFK Jr voters are the closest thing we have to "undecideds" and I think he had been bleeding off potential blue voters at a higher rate than he was with red voters (especially post-assassination attempt). But if we continue to see his vote share drop now that Harris is in the race, then maybe she's been able to reverse that trend and square things up a bit. Like a lot of the Gary Johnson responders in 2016, I expect a good chunk of the Kennedy poll responses are not actually going to cast a ballot in November. We like to think independent candidates are a spoiler for one side or the other, but many times they are getting numbers from the fringe that is neither blue nor red. Serious question: Who are these RFK Jr. voters? I'd like to see a demographic. They must be the weirdest people in the country.

Man I'm getting to be old as F. I remember when we use to have those TI graphing calculators to graph out problems in Calc. Once we had an assignment to then draw our assigned problem first on the calculator and then on a sheet for the overhead projector as homework. I had graphing software on my IBM 386 ps2 (having a PC put me in the minority back then) and an color ink jet printer (high tech back then), so instead of using markers to hand draw it I printed out a perfect diagram. So yeah, this hits home.

The problem for 3rd party in this day and age is that one mistake can sink them because they don't generate enough headlines to counter it. Gary Johnson was buried for his Aleppo comment, meanwhile there's absolutely no way Trump knew what Aleppo was either. But it didn't matter because Johnson made that one gaffe and that's all anyone knew about him. He couldn't chase it out of the headlines because they never covered his campaign. With RFK, he's a Kennedy, he has a brain worm and he's anti-vax. That's pretty much the only things anyone will ever know about him.

The "Kamala flopped in the 2020 primary" talking point is incredibly weak. Especially since Biden lost in 2 other primaries over his career, got no delegates in either, and then after being VP, he beat Trump's ass.
July 26, 20241 yr Is there another libertarian candidate with bad hair and a VP candidate named after a cartoon character I should look into?

My school got their first graphing calculators the year that I took AP Calc (88-89, I was in 10th grade)- they purchased 5 TI-81 calculators to share amongst all of the teachers in the building, and we didn't even have a functioning computer at home in those days so every graph I made pre-college was hand drawn with no calculator assistance. We did have overhead projectors though 😏. It's been about 10 years or so since we got rid of those. I also used one of those old-school mimeograph machines to make copies during my student teaching, not because it was the current technology, but because my co-op teacher was very old school and kept the school's mimeograph machine when they were getting rid of it. I loved the smell every time I made a handout for my classes.

My school didn't have any so I had to go out and purchase one on my own. My parents balked at the price and refused so I had to sink my own money. Working part-time $5/hour, that was like 2 weeks pay!

I think we are a bit younger and it sounds like they had 5 total to share where as they were cheaper for us kids in the early to mid 90s and we had to buy ours.
