It's very true. "Knowing stuff has no value anymore" "The future will be filled with beautiful idiots who just want to feel".

I'm not sure we have to wait for the future.  We're pretty much already there.

Well, it was a fun 2 weeks where we imagined a second Trump term wasn't going to happen. Harris made her first MAJOR mistake by choosing Walz over Shapiro. I hope it's not a mortal wound, but it really is just a completely insane unforced error here for a number of reasons:

1. She has to win PA - there is basically no path to victory without it. Shapiro's favorability in PA is off the charts. She just threw that away.

2. This shows that Harris will not stand up to the fringe, rabid anti-Semitic wing of her party. She's hoping that energizing a group that NEVER shows up to vote will offset turning off moderates. She will likely be wrong.

3. Walz brings the baggage of the 2020 BLM riots with him, and most Americans found the destruction of property to be disgusting. He was the governor of MN when it all went down. She just made this a campaign talking point for Trump. Just a monumental mistake.

Harris had a chance to really knock Trump out by appealing to swing voters and she threw it away for someone who will placate the insane wing of her party that doesn't even show up to vote. Bowman lost. Bush is about to lose. She joined the losing side.

The angry twitter mob gets far more attention that it should (it really should get next to none). There was a whole twitter outrage thing on Shapiro and I feel that you're right, and they caved to it.

I don't think there's a negative to the Walz pick, but I don't think he brings the positives that Shapiro does.

Funny but that's exactly what I would have written if she'd gone with Shapiro..

Look, she's married to Jew who is apparently going to be very visible during the campaign.  Scranton Joe will be her closer in Penn.  Shapiro is going to get a sweet prime gig at DNC.  It wasn't worth opening the one wound Democrats can't heal this cycle: the Israel-Palestinian war.  I think Waltz is going to be a star this campaign and will have the best favorability ratings of the 4 candidates on the tickets.

Pretty much, but it's only going to get worse. I fear for my children and the world they will inherit.

His own party does not want him.

Also if she wins, I think Shapiro gets attorney general. He will be far better than that feckless imbecile Garland.

How about SCOTUS?

I think Shapiro's better served to stay in PA as Gov.  The guy's got what it takes to run at the top of the ticket and attorney general is a job that guarantees the other side slings mud at you.  Gov keeps him as an executive and keeps him as a future hopeful.

I would've personally liked the pick if it was either Shapiro or Walz (or Bootyjuice or Whitmer) but I'm talking about from a strategy standpoint.  Teasing Shapiro (and basically sending the left into despair) and setting up a situation where the left is either going to revolt or celebrate and then picking the celebration pick is really well played.

eh, it's August. none of that will matter in November.

my main concern with Walz is whether he can win centrists. his track record suggests he can, but if I had to choose it would've been Shapiro. I'd rather the ticket have to argue for progressive turnout than to have to convince centrists you're not too progressive.

per my earlier I'm fine with the Walz pick, both he and Shapiro had some risks. I think Shapiro would have helped win PA. if he is a committed surrogate he may well still help her win it.

I'll be a million monopoly dollars Shapiro will be introducing Harris with gusto at today's rally.  He's getting something good, basically this election's Pete Butigieg.

Harris and Casey are both going to win PA and Maga is going to be sent packing. And not choosing Shapiro isn't going change that.

You're a Bernie supporter who is part of the far left wing, so makes sense you love the pick. Elections are won in the middle though.

I get not wanting the DNC to turn into a repeat of 1968. Kelly wasn't a viable option unfortunately, so she was somewhat stuck once the Democratic leadership decided to bow down to a bunch of anti-Semitic children (who likely won't vote anyway).

I have never been a Bernie supporter.  Ever.  I'm middle left just like most of ya'll and I wanted Kelly over Waltz.  I just don't think you guys are looking at the voting blocs correctly.

Dude is a former teacher, vet, extremely high popularity in his own state (people can f off with the riot crap).  Is he who I wanted? No but it's not like she choose a couch Fer who insults pretty much everyone in the country daily.  Not like Shapiro isn't going to campaign for Harris in pa to drum up support.

Kelly had too much personal baggage. It was Walz or Shapiro. And the anti-Semites got their man.

The one saving grace is short of picking the reincarnation of Hitler, no choice she made would have been as awful as JD Vance. But she had a chance for a knockout blow and whiffed. The race is at best a coinflip now.

I don't know how it wasn't Mark Kelly.

Sent it to you

>In a recent CNN interview, Jake Tapper noted that under Walz, Minnesota had legalized recreational marijuana, passed background checks on guns, expanded LGBTQ protections, implemented tuition-free college for low-income Minnesotans and approved universal free breakfast and lunch for school kids. Would that record be an asset, Tapper asked, or just allow Trump to label Walz another big government liberal?

>It was the type of question that has left many Democrats stammering. Walz just grinned. "What a monster!” he said. "Kids are eating and having full bellies so they can learn, and women are making their own health care decisions… And we’re a top-five business state. … I’m more than happy to take the label.”

i wanted shapiro, but i had walz right below him. yes, i know he brings an instant talking point because of the BLM riot baggage, but really, trump can make a talking point for his base by claiming windmills are going to kill off the bird population or that libs are going to take everyone's kids and turn them trans. so, he would find some BS to spew no matter who the pick was.

time will tell though if the baggage is too much.
