August 6, 20241 yr Oh they were so mean to me by reading my quotes and asking me to clarify what I meant, oh no. Big baby Trump tells Adin Ross he wants to ‘fire’ Black journalist who grilled him onstage "This woman starts talking … about racism, and I said, ‘You didn’t even say hello to me,’ and I’m doing them a favor by doing this,” Trump told Ross on Monday. "I’m doing this out of respect to the Black community.” Last week, ABC News correspondent Rachel Scott asked Trump about his history of false claims about his rivals and his inflammatory remarks to officials and reporters of color.
August 6, 20241 yr Again I'll say that I thought Shapiro would've been a better pick, but it's also a bit unfair to paint the Walz pick as flagrantly lacking in political strategy. It may be a strategy some of us don't think was the most optimal, but it's not completely misguided like a Beshear pick would've been. These are the poll averages in WI leading into the last two elections. Which if are indicative of the dynamic there again, would mean Harris has much more ground to make up there compared to PA.

I also think you're dissociated from the reality of the Democrat party which is split 50-50 down the middle right now in support of Israel. The college kids and muslims that are full throated pro palestinian might be a small group, but the overall anti-zionist sentiment among social liberals is way larger.

I wouldn't say it is anywhere near 50-50 as far as supporting Israel or terrorists. About 10-15% are the lunatics supporting Hamas. About 60% want the hostages returned and the war to end, and they don't like Netanyahu at all (this is where Shapiro and Walz both are). The remainder are just pro-Netanyahu. But most of the party has questions about Netanyahu, wants a 2 state solution and the end of settlements in the West Bank, and Hamas to be removed from power (I'm not a Democrat, but this is what I and most rational people want). The disgusting part of this is that Walz and Shapiro basically have the same position on Israel. In fact one could argue Shapiro is more critical of the Israeli government than Walz. But the lunatic fringe threatened to riot and tank the DNC because Josh Shapiro is Jewish. It isn't based on policy. It's based on his religion. That's abhorrent. And the Democratic party should be better than that, especially when blatant bigotry is the hallmark of MAGA.

August 6, 20241 yr If Shapiro were actually staunchly pro-Israel, and more importantly pro-Netanyahu, then these arguments would be valid. But he's not. He's Jewish. And the party of inclusiveness just said that's a non-starter. That's horrible.

Yeah, one good thing about Shapiro would've been Harris could've come out right out of the gates and said "If you're an antisemite and you're in the Democratic party, you can leave now. There's a whole party that represents raycists and antisemites and it's on the other side of the aisle. You're welcome to join them anytime." They wouldn't have lost enough to matter and it would've gained them votes from the middle. I mean, technically they could still do it, but the issue really isn't hanging out there anymore.
