August 21, 20241 yr Interesting question after the speech last night. As someone who was a registered Republican up until 2021 (now Libertarian), if presented with the option of removing the risk of this November's election, I would happily accept another Obama term. But of course, I despise Trump, and while I disagree with basically all of Harris' policy positions, I'd rather see her win. To the liberals on this board -- would you sign up right now for another GWB term if it meant Trump couldn't win?

His speech at the correspondent dinner was probably the inflection point that ushered Trump into the spotlight. He couldn't stop talking ish about Trump and every time he mentioned him it was dripping with arrogance. And his term wasn't nearly the success Dems think it was. Just more of the "I'm cool because I voted for the black guy" identity politics nonsense that now defines his party.

I mean, that speech was after Trump had ranted and raved about him not being born in the US. And "hired" investigators to look into it in Hawaii. It's not Obama who started it. Could he have let it go -- sure. But the correspondent's dinner is for jokes. Trump is a man-baby who can dish it out but can't take it.
