The FL case in theory isn't as impacted but the cultist judge there has been putting her thumb on the scale at every turn so I don't know why he'd flee when he's got a full blown cheerleader on the bench doing everything in her power to keep him viable. The FL case will be interesting -- almost certainly the dismissal will be overturned. The government can petition to have the judge removed, or the appellate panel could reassign it themselves. Worst case the appellate court sends it back to Cannon, and she will just keep getting overturned on appeal. The DC case should be simpler -- Chutkan will rule that Trump's actions were not official acts and he will be convicted. He will appeal to the DC Circuit, who will affirm her decision, and then he will file writ to SCOTUS. That's where the rubber will meet the road. However, if he is convicted at the District Court level and sentenced to real jail time, even if that is stayed pending appeal, he runs the risk of being incarcerated if SCOTUS affirms (or doesn't hear the case).

I'd be shocked if they all didn't try to frame most of the evidence as protected under "official acts". So you'd be banking on ACB and Roberts being reasonable humans who care about their legacy beyond the faded memory of a reality game show host who was an epic failure as president, which is tenuous at best.

August 23, 20241 yr And then there were two: https://www.inquirer.com/politics/election/kennedy-pennsylvania-ballot-president-election-20240823.html Quote Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is expected to suspend his independent campaign for president and endorse former President Donald Trump on Friday. But, depending on ongoing legal challenges, his name may still appear on Pennsylvania’s November ballot. The longtime environmental lawyer and anti-vaccine activist had launched a long-shot campaign for president but the campaign has struggled in recent weeks as his already low poll numbers dropped and his name was booted from New York’s November ballot. Kennedy is facing challenges to ballot access in several states, including Pennsylvania where he arrived in Harrisburg Tuesday too late to testify in defense of his candidacy.

But really, I don't know what this accomplishes. I think most of the RFK Jr supporters were the types that were aligned with a lot of the conspiratorial and anti-vax elements of society, MINUS the Trump authoritarianism. Or in summary, they align on a lot of weird MAGA adjacent crap, but they very intentionally don't want to be MAGA. If these guys were gonna sway to Trump, they wouldn't bother with RFK in the first place.

Trump had sheet on the troops, trashed POWs, had a public fued with a Gold Star Family, etc. They just thought people would assume they were the patriotic party and that being too public about it would be rubbing it in and in poor taste, but that was stupid and it allowed Republicans to claim patriotism while waving a flag but being wholly unpatriotic. They needed it to be explicit and they needed it to be symbolic. And I suppose it took Harris's ascension for them to finally figure it out. I agree they thought it wasn't necessary AND that they saw no reason to risk pissing off the idiots on the far left. Things have changed a lot over the last 18-24 months in the mainstream/middle with the stupid on the left being called out. Harris is the crowning part of that trend. She is the perfect person to finally push the party back into the flag waving and her capital on the far left is enough to keep them quite. I think that means we align pretty closely with our views on this topic,
