August 23, 20241 yr 1 hour ago, Lloyd said: Well aligning yourself with RFK will do wonders to clear up the "weird" accusations. But really, I don't know what this accomplishes. I think most of the RFK Jr supporters were the types that were aligned with a lot of the conspiratorial and anti-vax elements of society, MINUS the Trump authoritarianism. Or in summary, they align on a lot of weird MAGA adjacent crap, but they very intentionally don't want to be MAGA. If these guys were gonna sway to Trump, they wouldn't bother with RFK in the first place. Most supported him because his name wasn't Trump or Biden. Now they'll have to pick, and we'll see where they go. It's not insignificant, though. Neither is Musk supporting him, nor is there the possibility of Rogan, as well, now that Kennedy has dropped out and has a spot on Trump's team. It will be a close race, and it all adds up. People here root for their person like a sports team, which I get, but some on both sides sometimes act like Nick Wright. There is a reason Musk has 195 million followers, and Rogan is the 1 podcaster. They speak to that anti-fax conspiratorial fringe element of society, which could sway them to Trump. Will it turn the election? No, but small things add up in a race this close. She did well last night. This is a win for Trump. Not a big one, but a win. Kennedy didn't exactly give him an overwhelming endorsement. It was mainly they suck.

And I'm sure Trump is happy to get whatever percentage of a bump that means. I shouldn't downplay it the way our voting base is polarized. I still feel like RFK's audience was of the mindset "I love conspiracies, and hate vaccines. But goddamn, Trump is a friggin moron." So ultimately I question how many of RFK voters will come rushing to Trump...but you're right, some will.

Again, it wasn't an overwhelming endorsement either vs they suck. That seems more genuine, though, and what could help Trump a bit is if he keeps talking about how he thinks the Democrats are going in a bad direction. Won't move the needle much but having him off the ballot does help like you said. That's also true for Harris depending on the state.
