I looked into it, and frankly the Franchise Tax Board is such a pain that moving really wouldn't help me. If you generate income from a CA source, they come after you. Since our firm is HQ'd in LA, the only way to get out of CA taxes is to move the whole operation.

The cost of living is high largely because people really want to live on the costal regions there. It's supply and demand and they've been priced out. Just going through the CEQA process and getting an EIR is a decade long process before you get to all the outrageous compliance costs.
