October 2, 20241 yr The more I think about it the more I think that Walz wasn't the right guy. He wasn't the wrong guy, but he wasn't the right guy. You have to assume that JD Vance isolated is going to be more mainstream in so far as what he says and how he says it. You can tell that Walz just doesn't have experience being challenged like he was. Was he wrong about anything? No. That said, he just didn't counterpunch well. He'd let JD Vance say something, and then he would make his own point. I felt like I was watching a HS forensics competition. Each side made their points, but the winner was only determined based on who looked more polished. Walz just doesn't have the kind of chutzpah for debates. He let JD Vance go on about bringing manufacturing home, but he didn't effectively counter on how under Biden it has been brought home and under Trump it wasn't. He didn't stick Vance enough with his previous comments on women. One thing he didn't stick him on was normalcy. His closing should have been about how that debate was normal, but we aren't the candidates, and the only way for us to regain normalcy and civility is to reject Trump so we can get back to basics. "For as polished and well spoken Vance has been tonight, you're not voting for him. Your voting for his arrogant, imbecile boss." The republicans screwed up because they didn't want to piss off their fringes. The democrats might just have made the same mistake.
