I was actually excited about the Hield trade, but between this Lowry BS and my flight to Vegas being delayed, this now sucks.

I'll see you in a couple of hours

Eh I’m guessing Embiid was on board with clearing potentially $65 mil in the 2024 offseason. Talked about it all offseason that they’d likely take a step back in 2023-24 and he’d have to be on board with it other he’d have asked out. I think their goal was try to compete this year and make moves that didn’t F up their cap flexibility for 2024 offseason.

i said this last offseason, 2024 offseason was realistically their best chance at creating a roster that would be capable of winning a title and whatever the image the Sixers/Morey wanted. That said they are very likely to F it up and it implodes.

If this was the plan then why the hell did Embiid get the surgery that has him come back this year? They are stupid

Trading Springer was dumb even though he can't shoot yet, they need to TRY to develop guys.

Look at Nuggets, they drafted Peyton Watson last year and I wouldn't be surprised if Michael Potter Jr is available next summer because of how well Watson has played combined with his cheap contract.

The salary cap restrictions only get tighter and player development is going to become important. Morey isn't the guy

Is he worth a max deal?

That’s the piece that doesnt fit

are we certain his procedure was that?

I have no doubt that Boston's player development people are going to fix Springer's shot and turn him into good 2 way player who will be a lockdown defender we'll have to deal with for the next 5 years

Under the assumption he actually does. I’m not convinced he actually does.  Why they keep saying check in 4 weeks. Might just keep extending it out depending on how the team performs and in the standings in his absence

Who Watson or Porter Jr? Watson will eventually get 120 million but they can move on from Porter Jr and yet picks or expirings for him so they can keep the core around longer.

They developed him while being 3rd in the Western conference. It can be done but Morey doesn't even know how many picks are in the first round.

I wouldn't trade him for a 2nd. I certainly wouldn't trade him to the damn Celtics for a 2nd. WTF. DM is a total POS as a GM.

Porter

really wanted to draft him

Morey sucks

I would love to see him be a main option because he definitely has"sacrified" his offensive game but he still has major back issues and believe drop foot. I wouldn't trade for him

Things started off good today, then took a sheeeiiiittt after that. I'm not sure what Morey thinks he is doing. I guess he is looking at the buyout market. I think I'm done with this season. if Embiid stays out until the playoffs- I might be interested. But I'm done with all this weird drama for the year.

So after the deadline we have

Maxey, Hield, Oubre, Harris, Embiid

Bench- Payne, Melton, Covington, Batum, Reed

Deep bench- KJ Wright, Bamba

G leaguers- Terq, Council, Lofton

Its still a solid depth team. They dont have as much length and energy without Morris and Beverly. Its certainly a downgrade. But its still pretty solid.

The problem continues to be the health of Melton, Covington, and Batum. 3 significant rotation pieces missing significant time.

IF we can add a Dinwiddie, and Lopez its back to being pretty darn good. Gallinari is always hurt, but at this point might be worth trying to replace Covington with Gallo too.

I dont give up on the season yet. I dont know if its enough. Even if the buyouts go our way, which they never do, Im still not sure its quite enough. But... team can still be surprisingly good.

Highly unlikely

Springer has never shown a bit of a shot

Robin Lopez isn't a viable NBA center anymore and Dinwiddle, not sure what happened to him but his shooting as been bad.

Relying on Batum who has been injured twice now with that hammy injury and Covington who not sure can trust his knee to stop swelling.

This is correct.

Despite me being realistic about Morey's ineptitude as GM, I can be realistic about the Springer trade as well. It wasnt a good move, but it also wasnt an idiotic move.

Firstly, Nick Nurse has had a well established history of developing players. Secondly he now has Rico Hines on staff who is a widely regarded elite player talent developer. If Springer was ever going to develop a shot, its not just going to be because he went to Boston. He could have done it here.

With all that said, we could have spent another year (he has only had one offseason with Nurse's staff) trying to develop him. And as he continues to play elite perimeter defense, IF he could improve his shot at all they might have been able to get a 1st round pick for him.

We will now have 60M instead of 54M in a summer with no free agents to spend it on. It was an unnecessary trade for poor value to a contender with a history of making players like him useful.

It was dumb. But it wasnt his worst move of the day.

Trading Beverly presumably for Lowry was the stupidest thing.

And despite the Hield trade being a very good one, that might be the worst move of the day considering it makes 0 sense at this point. If they were tanking by the end of the day, they sure as hell werent tanking at Noon when they pulled off the Hield trade. Why even do it?

Its not good. Not arguing that. Not good at all. Theres no smart plan forward at this point. You just hope the buyout guys can limit some of the damage Morey did to the team yesterday.

drama queens on here

according to nbc sports philly, the sixers gave up three 2nd round picks & got three 2nd round picks yesterday...so that's a wash.

so they basically traded:

pat bev (3rd or 4th guard at best)

springer (can't shoot/unplayable in playoffs)

house - stinks

korkmaz - stinks & rumored to be waived

morris - washed & rumored to be waived.

and they got a legit outside shooter in buddy hield & a solid backup pg who can score some in cam payne.

No big trades were made so I heard. I think the Sixers will be ok with the trade. However, I think Morey knows more about Embiid then we do and it seems like he won't be returning this season. The Sixers slide is going to be a big one. Lottery pick time. Start the "Process." Again.

Chasing long shots.

According to TNT's Chris Haynes, the Sixers plan to pursue Clippers star Paul George in July if the two-way wing is unable to reach a contract extension with his hometown team.

"If Paul George and the Clippers are unable to get an extension done, look for the Sixers to be very aggressive in trying to pursue him in the offseason," Haynes told SportsRadioWIP. "Paul George will definitely be a target for the Philadelphia 76ers."

You ignore all context.

If you boil it down simply it looks OK.  If you put any thought in to it,  it's stupid.
