Frankly they need Embiid as he’s basically the only guy with legit size and skill at center. His last shot was ridiculously stupid, but he also had some big blocks in that second half that helped propel the 76ers. Like we can hate on him, but him actually losing the weight is probably gonna help him on the defensive end. Cause he looked slow and he couldn’t jump the previous couple years. At least tonight he showed you that he could get up and make some blocks. Which is something we haven’t seen since like three years ago.

Knicks have the worst record in the NBA

His defense wasn’t the issue tonight he did some great things. It’s his offense that is a major concern, him just constantly turning the ball over at will and making stupid decisions with the ball in his hands. He needs to clean that up. Most of his turnovers were not even because the defense, just him being lazy and dumb

Tbh I’m more concerned with his rebounding and the sixers overall rebounding in general. It has to be better. They got their ass kicked on the boards. Knicks had 14 offensive boards. That’s 14 extra possessions. Sixers had 6. Imo he doesn’t need to expend as much energy on the offensive end anymore. Add on guys will get him good looks if he lets the game come to him. They have a boatload of offensive talent. So he can preserve some energy that he could apply to being better defensively and on the glass. Heck if he’s better on the offensive glass, he might get an extra six points every night. He had 2 offensive boards tonight. Easily could’ve had 4-5.

Been wanting him to just be a rounder for the last 2 years.

They need to challenge him go get a certain number and a certain number of offensive boards every game.

They really need him to cause they don’t have another center on the roster that’s any good and he can get them some really easy buckets when teams have to defend everyone on the court and will leave to help when LeBron, Maxey and JB on drives. They don’t need him to be the MVP scorer like he was years ago. They need him to just be efficient in his scoring but really defensive anchor and rebounder. Particularly until they get another backup center that is actually good.

This team has everything it needs, but maybe that backup center. So whenever they can finally add somebody in December, they really need to do it.

I feel the need to complain about 1 thing from yesterday's game.

Jaylen Brown, in game 1 of the regular season trying to re-create the LeBron, D Wade pic... I thought that was so tacky. Especially for the fact that it didnt work out for him. Made him look dumb...

Super nice to get to watch a part of that game last night. That was a real meaningful NBA regular season game with the players actually playing hard. Good to see the new look Sixers able to stay in the game and take a clear away win against one of the league favorites. Lebron is a great asset given him ability to play all types of roles and also being completely comfortable with doing the dirty work.

For the first time in a very long time, I was excited about the Sixers entering the season. Still can't believe we got Jaylen Brown and Lebron James. Insane. My one worry is still Embiid. He played defense and rebounded much better Tuesday night than he did last season. But I'm not sure if his knees can hold up for an entire season of doing that. And even with his performance Tuesday night, there's still so much athleticism that has been zapped from him compared to a few years ago. And on offense, he really needs to change. The offense isn't going through him anymore. He needs to take less shots and stop trying to create. He needs to cut down on the turnovers. He can't be making 4-5 turnovers a game and taking ill-advised shots and jacking 7 3s. Work some low post opportunities, hit some spot up elbow jumpers off the pick and pop. Take 10 good shots a night, play defense, and rebound.

Embiid will definitely not hold up. The question will be if the team is actually good enough to win a championship without him. In years past, they were not. However, this team no longer needs to rely on him to take pressure of Maxey. They finally have another legit superstar in Brown, AND a great glue guy in LeBron, PLUS the championship pedigree of those veterans.

And they even have an elite defender off the bench in Dean, and an actual 6th man of the year candidate, microwave scorer, sharpshooter off the bench in Simons.

Even without Embiid, this will be by far the best roster they have had.

Yes agreed. If we could somehow swap Embiid with an athletic defensive minded center who can defend, grab rebounds, get up and down the floor, and score 10-12 a night on put-backs and dishes in the post, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I agree and have felt that way for years.

His brief flashes of MVP caliber play are sure exciting. It clouds people's vision of his actual value, which is next to nothing. As he has never been healthy for a post-season and never will be.

Someone who can average about 10/10 and a few blocks is far more valuable to this team. Especially if they turn it over less, and can play at a faster pace with the rest of the team.

Id trade Embiid for a far lesser player than himself, because the value of a useful player is far greater than the value of a few more 40+ point games in the regular season, and the obstacle of constantly making the team adjust to life with him, and life without him over and over again throughout each season.

Yup. He's an immensely talented and skilled player. One of the most skilled scorers I've seen. And before the injuries piled on, was a force in the paint on defense and on the glass.

But he has routinely underwhelmed in the playoffs. And he makes way too many bad decisions with the ball. And in the playoffs, going against tougher defenses, they've been able to exploit that as he has struggled with anticipating the double teams and passing to the open man.

I was ready to move on after the Boston series in '23. They could have gotten a good haul for him at that point as he was coming off an MVP season. But that's water under the bridge at this point.

Hezonja is demolishing the 6ers right now.
