It's starting again now because Hurts (rightfully so) has been getting killed in here.

A far worse fate would be to end the year losing at home to the Packers or the Rams in a game we seem to give away.

The Eagles absolutely could get blown out by those teams too with the way they are currently playing.

I wasn't a fan of bringing Cox back this year, but he's been good. I can't imagine how the D-line would look right now without him.

I just see no way they aren't Eagles unless they retire.

Yep.  And they’ve been reasonable with what they expect in pay as well.  Very solid rotational pieces, team leaders and on team friendly deals.  I have no issues with that whatsoever.

I'd actually want Cox back. Where has Jordan Davis been since like week 4? Dude makes one standout play per month now. For a top 15 pick he needs to be better.

Btw, as an aside, something I was thinking about recently. If the Jets clean house, do the Eagles bring Joe Douglas back?

Rodgers talked them all up today. I doubt Jets clean house.

And no.

Don't think so.  Especially not at home.

I mean Driscoll started against the Bills on short time and did just fine.  Develop him.  Maybe Steen can play RG when Jurgens moves to C.  They can be serviceable.  The back 7 of the D is in shambles.  Keep Ringo, Brown and Reed and get rid of everyone else.  Put some premium draft capital on DB and LB's.

He's a free agent and he's made of glass.   He's been in the league for 4 years now.   He is what he is.

The same way Steph Curry influenced an entire generation to take the three from anywhere on the court, I think Mahomes is having a similar impact at the quarterback position. Run around, bail on the pocket, and direct your guys to make some crazy play. It looks cool when it works but it really isn’t good, smart football. Caleb Williams plays a similar way and will drive his coaches crazy with some of the early mistakes he’ll make with it, as great as his potential is. Lamar had a play the other night where he dropped back 20 yards, evaded a sack, and threw a ball up to Isiah Likely for a completion who was double covered. Again, terrible throw decision but bailed out by his receiver.

Josh Allen is tied with Hurts in turnovers playing a similar way. It’s just not a consistent way to play the position, especially for Hurts who doesn’t have the arm drive guys like Allen and Mahomes have.

This style has infected Hurts and it’s having a really bad impact on him and the team. It’s not something he did last year, he was a very good decision maker and smart with the ball. Hurts, when he is at his best, I think plays similar to Purdy and Dak when they’re firing on all cylinders. I don’t need this Mahomes/Allen hero ball/backyard style from him.

Oh haven't you heard? As of last night I am racist again!

Or did I never stop being racist? I can't even keep track of my labels these days.  I just know I'm apparently wearing it right now.

It’s a shame because the guy has looked really solid at times.

Just kidding, but yeah... totally forgettable guy.

I think we all quite liked Graham initially.  He was pretty good. Then,  got bad pretty quick.

The most important thing this offseason, and for the foreseeable future, is fixing Hurts. Alex Tanney should definitely be shown the door. I'd be in favor of moving on from Johnson as well, but I just don't see them firing both coordinators. So absent a miracle where BJ gets a HC gig, I think he is back. Which means this all falls on Nick to rein him in and bring in a great QB coach to work with Hurts.

Who you got in mind?

I don't think so, but I would say the chances of it happening are non-zero.   Then again, I'm not sure this team gets to host a playoff game right now.

...You know what. I deserved that. Sorry, I was a bit riled up because I don't handle the big negativity pools on the boards well.

My bad, I was a dick in that comment. I get what you're saying, I do programming/IT so I know how it is that some things are a bit jargon heavy. A lot of people here on the board are super old hat (the original version of this board is ancient, like at least 15+ years, long before I was here) so I forget sometimes not everyone is.

My fault, sorry dude.

Cool, thanks mate...I think we are all feeling the frustration still from last night! Have a good one...

Cheers,

Kevin

Sure, sky is falling post.  Here is another take.

Mailata/Dickerson are two pro bowlers entering the peak of their careers.  Next year's center will be a sizable drop but he will still be a very solid young player and the RG has every chance to develop and be solid in his 2nd year.  Lane may retire which would leave a big hole but that can be addressed in the draft. The TE and top two WRs are excellent and still in the their prime.  Howie has already proven that RBs can be mainly plug and play.  Hurts does plenty of things at an elite level but his flaws don't necessarily need to be fatal.  The DL needs some real additions but the Davis/Carter/Sweat trio is a good start.  The special teams are fine.  The big holes are LB and DB.  Some pretty big holes on D but quite a bit to build on.

I might be more optimistic when the team gives me a reason to be.   Who knows, maybe they get some magic fairy dust sprinkled on them and find a missing switch that's eluded them all year and a magical run happens.   But, I won't hold my breath.   And I won't be watching live on Christmas either.

I was optimistic before the 49ers game...

I was optimistic before the Cowboys game (2nd)...

I was optimistic before last night's game...

I'm out of optimism.

Hard to find much positive after another letdown. But squinting really hard and trying to see glass half full side, I guess I have:

- The team has been flawed all year but winning was hiding a lot of the issues. Even after two blow-outs some were holding onto the gauntlet schedule and playing two top teams. Getting beaten by Drew Lock hopefully is the wake up call they needed and opens their eyes (even wider than before ) that major corrections are needed on both sides of the ball

- The O was crap show to end the game but the most important player on the field was sick. He did however had his best day running the ball this year. If that's a sign he is starting to get his legs back, that may be good sign going forward for the run game and offence in general. Hopefully the pass game gets back into more a sync once he recovers

- The D showed some improvement and played fairly well for 58 mins of the game. They were also without a couple of major pieces, granted it was against a back-up QB. Maybe Patricia can make some difference there going forward

- Stacking wins earlier in the year allowed them room for a slip-up late in the season. But they are running out of time fast to turn things around

After I pmed prophet

Both coordinator hires have been massive failures.  My personal opinion is that why this team is playing like they are.  Both were in over their head.  I don't know who's idea it was to hand a contending team over to 2 rookie coordinators in a high pressure situation.

What is done is done.  Now how to fix it?  Giglio and Hugh suggested that Sirianni is the one designing the plays and that VJ merely chooses which ones to run.  If that is the case, then Sirianni needs to let BJ design the plays and see what he can do.  If not, I think the only thing that could save this season is bringing in Reich to help in both play design and calls.

Yeah, 50/50 probably of winning the division now.  Do that though and it is probably the #2 seed.
