Yup.   My fandom passion has absolutely paled over the past two decades (my son turns 18 in 2 months).  And, I've lost friends and family to death.  Somehow the loss of a football game doesn't compare to any of that.   Just grateful that I was able to share a Super Bowl victory with some of them before the end came.

I think we all agree that there are way more important things in life than our love for Eagles football. And being able to share just one damn Super Bowl victory with friends, family or fellow Eagles fans on this board made it worth the wait.

100% the same for me.  Above all, I've realized at the end of the day that the vast majority of these players don't give a single hair off a rat's ass about the fans.

2/4/18 changed it for me. I got to see them win the Super Bowl, with a backup QB, against the NFL's version of the Galactic Empire. Had that never happened, I'd be much more upset about SB 57 or the slide this year. But seeing that really lowered the temperature for me.

2002 and 2003 hold the same place for me.  I couldn't believe they lost to Carolina any more than I could believe Tampa -- both were terrible losses.

Neither one was as bad for me as the 1980 Stanley Cup Finals, though.  That Flyers team was historically good; best hockey team ever to lose IMO.

I think that's just a side effect of getting older.  When we are young dumb and full of c.... well, you know, trivial things seem more important.  Then you get a wife and that becomes the center of your universe.  Kids, that universe grows.

Hell, in high school it was SO important what table and with whom you had lunch with.  Now I'd rather scarf something down alone and get along with my day

Saw this stat online.  Of course if WR  isn’t targeted it, numbers will be low.

The closing of the Vet made it worse for me, even though I was never able to watch a game there. All the history and stories that had to do with that stadium made it sickening when it had to be closed in that type of way. Dawk could’ve had his SB back then already.

2008 was bad because it seemed like destiny that we would end up in the SB, defying the odds etc. And in old Eagle fashion, we came up just a little short.

The only thing that would have made that loss even more fitting is if Plummer came out of retirement and won the game for them on a late 4th quarter drive.

1980 could have been the best year for Philadelphia sports and for the entire country. All teams made the finals, but only the Phillies were able to win it.

This too.  Now I don't have some mouth breathing Commanders fan slack jawed asking "Where's your Super Bowl" despite the fact they havent been an real NFL team for 3 decades.  I can live in peace.

Same for me

Shouldn't Brian Johnson be planning for the game instead of calling sports talk radio?

That was a knife thru the heart and very much like this one.  There was another one (think it was the Colts) that was with a backup but same type of ending.

So very true.   I've had students come to me complaining that some minor issue makes this the worst day of their life.    I've reassured them and told them not to worry about this... they will have far worse days.    Somehow that's not reassuring to them.

Landon should be quick recovery this says.

Younger people will never understand the 2002 loss to the Bucs. There is no close 2nd to worse loss in my lifetime.

The loss to the panthers in the championship was another really tough one to take

OK, 2 days removed, let's try and see some positives. Yes, I am reaching, but it's Christmas and I want to be happy (especially since I am flying home Friday and need to survive 5 days with the family).

1. It was just one game, but...we might have something in Ringo, Ricks and Brown. I always viewed Ringo as a long term project, but he really acquitted himself well against a top end WR core. Ricks is brutal in the slot, but he seems to excel on the outside where his length is an asset. And Brown plays with aggression and can diagnose -- he needs to work on getting guys to the ground. They brought much needed speed to the back 7 and it was good to see. Honestly, I'd bench JB and start Ringo and Ricks against the Giants, go with Brown in the 3 safety looks.

2. Putting aside the final drive (I know, big ask), I liked a lot of what Patricia did in this game. Desai using Ricks in the slot was criminal. He used Ringo and Ricks outside. He got Brown on the field. He brought pressure on an early 3rd down. As the game went on, he became too conservative, but I think he was adapting to the game and just trying to make Lock go down the field. Now, that last drive...give JB help and/or bring pressure on a young QB.

3. We ran for 178 yards...and ran the ball 38 times. And 24 of those were by actual running backs.

4. We actually did well on 3rd down -- Eagles 9/16, Seahawks 6/14.

5. Jalen won't be deathly ill next week (hopefully), and maybe someone will Nancy Kerrigan Quez's knee.

What's the problem?  We have a Pop Warner offense.  Oh wait, no, they run the ball more in Pop Warner.

Yeah....that was unreal. Especially after Duce scoring the TD on the first drive.

I feel like it should be the opposite and this logic has been the main driver of their offensive concerns this season. It’s also led to the regression of Hurts playing dumb football and looking for the homerun.

Exactly. Unless it's like the 49ers getting the ball in the WR's hands 10-15 yards from the LOS and let them run

I'm guessing he just assumed Hurts would slide but still. No effort at all.

It doesn't really have to mean deep shots, though. If anything it should mean using the short passing and run game to open up the deep shots or putting players in position for YAC opportunities. We have no hope if we constantly need 15/16 play drives to score.
