Who gets the axe to make room for Maddox when they are ready to activate him? My vote would be for Albert O. I'd rather keep Roby in case Maddox gets hurt again. Ricks and Ringo aren't getting cut, Jobe is too valuable on special teams, and Bradberry costs too much to cut. I guess it could be Penny as well.

Nope, Penny is going to make his grand debut this week

Frank may not be interested.  And I wouldn't blame him one bit if he chose to just wait out the season and see what the offseason coaching carousel brings to his door.   He's also 62 years old, played in the NFL for forever and has been HC twice.  And, Carolina is likely on the hook to pay him next season as well, as long as he isn't employed elsewhere, and so he may choose to just walk away from the game at this point and enjoy his retirement.

That would not surprise me at all.

https://www.on3.com/pro/news/frank-reich-panthers-buyout-revealed/

The Carolina Panthers (1-10) and team owner David Tepper will pay a hefty price not to have Frank Reich call another play for the team moving forward.

According to Steve Reed of the Associated Press, Tepper will be on the hook for an estimated $9 million per season over the next three seasons after relieving Reich of his duties as head coach Monday. Reich initially signed a four-year contract which runs through 2026

Somehow throughout all of the roster shuffling, the Eagles have managed to keep 4 TE on the roster for the entire season. The 3 TE not named Dallas Goedert have 4 catches between them and Goedert missed 4 games. I don't see any of them making standout ST plays that make them a core part of ST...but the guy who did...Christian Elliss got cut. Bizarre roster management to say the least.

Calcaterra seems always hurt and never productive.  I'm ok with it being him

Oh, he doesn't just seem to always be hurt and never be productive.  He IS always hurt and never productive.   No reason to waste a roster spot on him.

Quoting myself here but we can replace AND replicate this production with Albert O.

I don't even know why we traded for Albert O at this point. He only has 1 year on his contract and we don't use him.

Weird line.

Incoming report about Brian Johnson losing play calling duties to Frank Reich.

Guessing this is what moved the line 3 points

I honestly think has to do with the sheer level of incompetence when it comes to our offensive scheme

They don't know how to utilize him, same goes for Penny and they just ride the bench

Yep. The problem with a RPO based offense is you have to have an athletic QB who's a serious threat to make the rest of it work, no fault of Hurts that he hurt his knee and lacks the burst to make the plays he made last season. The fault is on Siri and Johnson not to have a "plan B."

You can have an excellent RPO offense without a mobile QB. See the 2017 Eagles (Foles) or look at the 2023 Colts with Minshew. You just have to do different things off of it.

Hurts "hurt" his knee how many weeks ago? And has never missed a snap or a practice rep. Never even showed up on the injury report for it either.

Not to say he didn't or he's not going through what every football player goes through. But it's a crutch to blame everything on his knee. The offense shouldn't just fall apart.

What I took from that article is defenses are baiting Hurts into making a decision pre-snap to throw it where they want him to. They know what he's reading and that allows them to dictate where the ball goes. Hurts needs to mix it up and not determine everything pre-snap. That's the next step for him.

Damn, you know it's been a rough few weeks at Novacare when even afan is throwing shade at the coaches.

Which is the fault of the coaches.Hurts has become an accurate thrower who can go through progressions, but when the scheme is designed to get the outside WRs one on one with limited check down options, etc., any QB would look mediocre as a passer. They can't run a RB screen to save their life with maybe the most athletic OL in the NFL. They don't have a 3rd or 4th WR option, or don't know how to use a big body like Jones in an Avant role. Don't know if the backup TEs are that bad or they simply haven't schemed to get the ball to the 2nd TE in two TE formations. Imagine what AR would do with Swift as a receiver! Has he run a wheel route all season?

Hurts also has over 1,000 rushes between College and Pro's. So if you built an offense whose main requirement is he has to be perfectly healthy to run, that was a dumb idea.
