In general with screens, i used to remember when Andy Reid would call them more frequently and we were one of the best teams in the league at it. I don’t know what happen in the last decade plus, but it feels we have to be one of the worst screen teams in the league. Not just wide receiver screens. But also to the running back. It just feel like we are just awful since reid left.

So Reid was a long time ago, but Reid used a variety of screens to keep it honest.  Chip in his 1 year of offensive brilliance before he consolidated his playbook to a napkin was the same.  The Siri led Eagles seem to have 2 screen plays available.  A blatantly obvious WR screen and a long developing RB screen.  Occasionally we’ve seen some TE screens to the slot, I think.  But unless they’re all getting ruined or tipped, I’m not sure I’ve seen a single tunnel screen this year.

Dink and dunk was not working, they couldn’t consistently do it.  Game tape reviews are all over, some say the offensive concepts are beyond basic…and limiting us.  Others are saying it’s too complex.  The thing that grates me the most is that we have a QB who likes to vacate the pocket way too often, despite it being clean, yet none of our WR’s are coached to scramble drill.  That absolutely baffles me.

The scramble drill is so bad, and it's basically a staple in this offense. The last one on 3rd and 7 was laughably bad. Watkins and Smith are about a yard apart from each other and Watkins is so far out of bounds when the ball is thrown he's almost past the white line.

Are you saying they actually attempt it, but it looks more like a chicken with its head cut off?  That might be the case lol.  Most of the time after about 2 seconds of Hurts breaking the pocket, I still see the WR’s with their backs to him.

I’ll keep harping on this…lost in us making the SB and losing a close game, last year the offense was just as inept for large chunks of games/season till the back end of the season.  IIRC going into week 9 or 10, the O scored 80+% of their points in the 2nd quarter and 2nd quarter alone correct?  This isn’t a BJ being a green OC IMO.  Is a systemic flaw.

*EDIT*

Last year the MO was start slow, everyone would cry.  2nd quarter would come and they would go the F off.  Then cruise the back end of games grinding out the run game with a defense capable of holding a lead.

I guess when Hurts rolls right, stops, then goes all the way to the left 10 seconds later it's enough time for everyone to run to the same spot

Totally agree. They are widely criticized because they go deep too often vs moving the chains. BJ hears that and after self reflection says we need to go deep more often. That coaching staff will never get it. They are the problem.

Hurts is playing like a freaking idiot, and this doesn't absolve him, but it can't help having BJ in his ear pushing that.

It's not even really a Brian Johnson thing. Sirianni talks nonstop about explosive plays and how its a core principal or whatever. Question is, does it all stem from Nick or above him.

Talking baseball…this off season the Dodgers managed to eclipse the 2008 NYY off season (which still might have been more given inflation of contracts).  When extensions are all said and done, they’ll shoot past it.  IIRC the Yanks spent 900m on Burnett, CC and Tex that off season.

You are right. It probably starts with Nick and if BJ doesn't already have that mindset Nick must be pushing it to him who pushes it to Hurts

It's horrible for the sport. I don't know why they don't do what the NBA and NHL do.

Tomorrow's Bills-Chargers game is exclusive to Peacock?  I'm not paying $6 to subscribe to watch the Bills blowout the Chargers.  Stupid.

Just like Amazon.  I'm not paying $15 a month to watch crappy Thursday night games.

I got Peacock only cuz it was $30 for an entire year.

I just hope they don't start spreading games all around streaming services.

Didn't know it was exclusive to Peacock for the game. Good to know

It's cheaper to do the annual subscription but if you're only using Amazon to get Prime Video for TNF then yea it wouldn't be worth it

I mentioned earlier in the year, they were too reliant on AJ Brown to make the passing game work. It felt like early in the year AJ Brown was carrying the passing game, and if he didnt, they would’ve looked a lot worse.

That said, if I’m a defensive coordinator, I know you’re only throwing it to three guys in this offense and you’re running the same things over and over then it’s eventually gonna be easier for me to come up with a gameplan to defend you. Just because you have elite talent in those three guys does not mean good defensive coordinators can’t devise a plan to slow it down and neutralize some of that talent. I think that’s what’s happening. The better teams with good defensive coordinator and good talent on defense have devised better schemes to slow down what you are doing. So you have to adjust and scheme guys open or you’re gonna have to add enough talent on the field that makes it impossible for them to assume where it’s going

add on on top of all this Jalen hurts isn’t seeing the field very well and is a turnover machine right now. So you got a multitude of things going against you.

They have to be trolling or playing gamesmanship at this point. Teams have been defending the big play all year. Most of their errors and turnovers are from seeking the big play. They can’t be this dumb.

If at first you don’t succeed, try again!

That was an amazing play.   I've heard so often how it is impossible for DBs to cover for 4+ seconds... how hard it is when the QB leaves the pocket... and yet, somehow the Seattle DBs were able to stay with these WRs while Hurts rolled all the way to one sideline... then ran all the way back to the other sideline.   Those DBs are incredible.

I probably missed most of the discussion regarding his tweet but I just wanna say I really hate Jeff McLane

A good excuse to go out to a bar and go watch the game.  Merry Christmas-eve-eve.

I have Peacock for WWE Network and the Dan Patrick show. Outside of that, don’t really use it for much. Eventually all of these streaming services are going to bundle together and they’re going to call it… cable. It’s like reverse engineering.

I gotta say this is a great weekend for NFL fans. Game last night, two games tomorrow, Sunday slate, three games on Monday. I’m getting my responsibilities done today & doing absolutely nothing the next 3 days

Batted down RB screen is my favorite.

With how bad the last 3 weeks have been, potentially having Maddox for the postseason feels awesome. Not saying we win a superbowl with him back, but does make me feel better about facing tough offenses
