Using money for the standard isn’t really a fair metric, even though I can understand why someone would seeing all the zeroes attached to it. That’s just how the position goes and it’s only going to go up. A lot of guys have and are going to continue to get monstrous deals because quarterback is the most important position in the game.

Hurts, Kyler, Allen, Herbert, Burrow, Lamar, Trevor Lawrence will probably be next, and the list will go on. They’re all kind of in the same boat success wise, but with Hurts and Burrow having Super Bowl appearances. The fear of starting over again or ostracizing your guy is going to put fear into teams perhaps overpaying for an already established quarterback. Above average guys will get massive contracts, even average to below average ones like Daniel Jones. You really have to be bad to not get a big deal or have your team be in position to take a next QB like Chicago will.

I think Trevor Lawrence has been, overall, underwhelming given his hype coming out. But is Jacksonville really going to move on from him and start over? Probably not. And that means based on the market, they’ll have to match a Hurts/Burrow/Herbert deal because that’s what the standard has been set to. That’s what agents negotiate off of. It was the same with Dak who is a good but not great QB.

Mahomes is the only exception. You can’t compare Hurts to him, but you really can’t compare any of those guys to him either.

SBs will either be won by Mahomes at 250m or Brock Purdy at 1m.

Jalen Hurts at 250m isn’t going to work.  Not unless he takes it to another level.

The $$$ is the reason we don’t have linebackers or safeties.

Just like Amazon.  I'm not paying $15 a month to watch crappy Thursday night games.

I got Peacock only cuz it was $30 for an entire year.

I just hope they don't start spreading games all around streaming services.

Amazon you also get free deliveries on anything you would ever need to buy online.

I’m not going to defend the media cause frankly there’s some who i dislike but it’s not like this is the first time somebody within the Eagles organization starts talking when things aren’t rosey. This seems to happen with the Eagles almost every single time things start to go awry or adversity/turmoil in a season. Going back to like the last three years of Andy Reid this has been an issue. And it hasn’t been just Jeff mclane at the forefront

so I can blame Jeff mclane’s and other Philly reporters, but somebody within that organization thinks it’s OK to always reveal stuff in the middle of a season when things are not going well or when the chips are down. so I can keep blaming the Philly media saying they are out to create drama and stories (their job is to report what is said to them and tell it in a story) OR I can start looking at an organization that has a history of releasing crap when things aren’t going well and probably should shut the F up instead.

jmo I don’t think Jeff mclane’s is just going to make up a story. I think somebody who is a source that he trust and has been correct most of the time in the past told him something. So he can either just sit on it and let it go or he’s gonna use it after he asked him if he can on the record and use it. To me the bigger issue is the same thing I talked about when Doug was near the end, when wentz was finally done, chip and howie feud and before all that Reid when he was nearing the end. It happens too many times that someone within the organization leaks something not just to mclane for it to be a coincidence. At some point there’s someone within the organization that doesn’t know how to just Stfu when things aren’t going well and keep it in house.

The only constant would be the leadership/front office or some equipment manager who’s been with the team for 25 years. The players and coaches change. But with 53 players you can find a complaint about anyone. I’m sure at least one player had issues with Brady’s leadership style during the golden years of the New England run.

I know it's been posted in different wording but reading it like this just makes it sound that much worse. If anything, the Eagles should be wanting to sustain longer drives to keep the defense off the field. They are playing entirely too many snaps and are clearly the worse of the two units. Keep them off the field and you have a much better chance to win.

smh. now we can all understand why our offense is becoming worse & worse. whats funny is Jalen & our offense actually looks better when we dink & dunk down the field. or maybe we get a big chunk play once in a while. this is Stubborn Sirianni putting this idea in BJs head though. honestly probably couple that with Lurie always wanting a big play offensive team. if we were going to be a big play offense probably would help if we were A LOT more creative. cant just line up & think chucking it downfield all game is a great offense.

SF is in a unique situation with Purdy due to him still being on a Mr. Irrelevant, 7th round pick deal. If he keeps putting up numbers like this, they’ll have to overpay for him. The tale of the young, good QB still on his rookie deal which allows you to spend at other positions is a long one. The Eagles benefited from it last year, now it’s an uphill climb. SF will feel the pain that the Eagles are feeling now and that KC is feeling now too not being able to invest at other key positions. It was the same with Seattle and Wilson.

Tbh i don’t think it’s a player. And from the article "several sources close to the situation”. So it could be a player but i don’t think a player would say it the way mclane worded it. Like josina did and other reporters when it’s a player it’s an anonymous teammate or player used as such

Frankly, I think somebody in the front office said it to mclane, because even if mclane goes with it, most fans are going to go after Jeff mclane as they dislike the media. So that person will get a pass as majority of fans won’t go after the Fing guy(s) inside the organization that put it out there to mclane and shouldn’t have said anything about it and kept quiet on the situation.

Then it makes the front office look like idiots for committing to him. They were around Hurts during the disaster in 2020, they lost a lot of games in 2021 and got blown out in a playoff game, 2022 was roses along with the start of this season. And now all of the sudden they’re questioning his leadership after a three game losing streak? He’s been the same guy from a personality standpoint his entire career. It just doesn’t make sense to leak something like this.

At some point I hope that the Eagles social media team monitors the posts here and just stops letting people into the games that speak negatively about Jalen Hurts here.

Jeff McLane is a bozo

Can Patricia be a good coordinator? And if co can he be the type of guy who gives us stability because no one wants him as a head coach?

We can think it’s just Jeff mclane’s who’s the only reporter to have a story like this over the last decade plus. Sheil, McManus, esp, Les Bowen and others have also had stories like this when things weren’t going well for the eagles since the end of the reid era. This isn’t just mclane who’s been getting scoops like this when things aren’t going well. Esp had the desean gang member news. McManus had a story inside the howie and chip feud when things weren’t going well at the end of 2014

So I can keep blaming everything on the Philadelphia media for the same thing that keeps happening every time this team has issues on the field and is not going well. Or at some point in time somebody’s talking when they shouldn’t be Fing talking. Maybe if this was like the first time this situation happened I’d be with you. You can say "it doesn’t make any sense they would do it”, it didn’t make sense the other times and it still happened and got leaked. It didn’t make sense once doug was already out of the building to continuously throw him under the bus and put more and more things out there when he helped this team achieve its first Super Bowl victory. Yet it happened.

just a point out if I was in the front office/organization and I wanted something like this to get out I would go to mclane. Most of the Eagles fan base hates mclane and thinks less of him already. so the backlash from the majority of the fan base is going to be towards mclane for the report and hardly any (if any) to the anonymous source within the organization that gave it to mclane.

Hurts & Burrow are in their own category because they’re proven playoff winners who have shown they can win in the highest pressure situations- all the way to the Super Bowl.

Hurts has had 3 bad games and all of a sudden he’s turned into a "JAG”?? lol.  Nah.

His naysayers are about to eat crow round 2.

With all this said, I wouldn’t be surprised if they took someone like Penix Jr. in the second round next year. Not as some hot take to overthrow Hurts, but as a backup they can develop on a deal cheaper than signing a vet second stringer. It would basically be Hurts with Wentz all over again. I don’t think the original goal with drafting Hurts was to overthrow Wentz. Just to have a guy to develop and as a just in case situation.

They have tanner McKee. Tend to think he’s that guy unless he just bombs in the offseason, training camp and preseason. I’m guessing they bring in a cheap veteran with little guaranteed money to compete with him for that spot.

Chris Long is the best

I just hope that all the fools and ghouls that talk down on Hurts & the Eagles now just have the same energy when the Eagles win the Super Bowl.

Truth is the team fell apart after Big Dom got kicked out and banned until the playoffs.  Yeah they were down but they were pumped and scored a TD before falling apart without the support of Big Dom and his presence.  Literally 0-3 without Big Dom.  I do like idea I've seen of signing Big Dom to the practice squad so he can be on the sidelines and maybe if the final game doesn't count too much at that point or is out of hand late let him run it in on a sort of FB Brotherly Shove handoff for a TD and FU you to Goodell and the rest of the NFL.

If Joe Flacco wins a second Super Bowl by going on a run here with the Browns through a completely open field in the AFC and does some Joe Flacco crap in the Super Bowl with that great defense over the 49ers again.  Does he then become a HoF QB?  If Eli gets in then Flacco would have to.  Like Eli, Flacco would have stopped two great 49ers teams while going on total tears in the playoffs.

If/when Eagles go out then I'm throwing my rooting interest weight partly behind the Flacco Browns.

Eagles can't make a move at OC and sign Frank Reich because they are hoping another team hired BJ as HC to bring two 3rd round picks and take over that contract.  Good thing for the Eagles is that Jalen Hurts is the GOAT in progress and it's about to get rolling especially with Maddox and the rest of the cast coming back by playoff time. Just need Dallas to beat Detroit.

He's not a tackler.  Hard to be a player when you fall off the guy you are supposed to tackle.   He needs to work on it... a lot.

Yup, all teachable and fixable.

I’m focused more on the skills and talents he has that can’t be taught.

If you pay a qb $250m and expect to compete for a sb, the margin for error or deviation from perfection for that qb is razor thin.

Mahomes is the only qb that has ever won a SB on one of these deals and Hurts ain’t Mahomes.

So it’s very fair to wonder how all this is supposed to work with a qb who isn’t playing at a HOF level, let alone a qb who isn’t playing at a high level.

Burrow same money dude sucked D before he got hurt, he wasn’t playing anywhere near great not a peep. Internet QB Herbert same money dude is a fing joke, Hurts is 10-4 but  "might have to go” because of a 3 game skid 🤣🤣🤣 when he literally won us Fing games himself with comebacks.

Right.  Anyone who watched Tanner McKee in the pre-season must have seen that (at least as of now) he showed enough for the Eagles to have kept him on the team.  I don’t see that changing before next season.
