Special teams was an adventure too even outside of the Scott fumble. We had 12 men on the field essentially giving the Giants a first down when they were punting. Covey also muffed a punt.

The 12 men penalty wasn't really a ST error.  It was Carter not getting off the field in time.

Well I feel so much better about it now.

The lack of quick hitters or hot reads against blitzes is infuriating. I don’t know if that’s a Hurts or Nick/BJ thing. But Hurts’ default against the blitz has always been rolling out to his right to extend the play.

I lean probably more towards coaching cause it’s been an issue all year. So you’d thinks. Coach would finally have enough and implement it and make it known to hurts that’s what we are doing. Re-watched the game again (infuriating as much as the first time), but i get why he just bailed today. We had like 7-8 blitzes where rusher didn’t even get touched.

Where's VanHalen been all year?

I've been annoying many with my constant VanSumeren hype.

I believe that yesterday, about 24 hours ago,  the official message board opinion about VanSumeren was "we don't care" and "stop talking about him."

I had VanSumeren on my day 3 of the draft udfa wishlist.  versatile freakbeast.

Don't look now, but I think Detroit has the inside road to the 1 seed.

They also have the toughest path with 2 playoff (potentially) teams standing in their way... though the Vikings QB situation is weak.

49ers have the second best shot at the 1 seed, with an easier road than Detroit.  Rams have a shot against them, and as the Raiders showed, division teams can take down opponents.

Eagles have the long odds to the 1 seed, but they have the easiest path before them to go 2-0 down the stretch.  It's a shame that Noone can be that confident in them for either game.

Dallas is still in the mix mathematically.  Need to win out, and need the Eagles to drop one and SF to lose out.  Seems unlikely the 49ers would have a second 3 game losing streak.

Makes me shudder when people say Boston Scott should have an increased role.  OZ can’t get pushed 5 yards back like that, but Scott fumbling the ball away in his own red zone on it was purely awful.

Or the Jets game. I remember people downplaying the loss because it was an AFC team and losses happen, but I said it would be costly. Not that this team is all that good, but at least a bye and home field would give them a puncher’s chance. But the loss looks pretty devastating as we sit here today.

Both to backup QBs and with their best corner out of the game. I think jets is likely more embarrassing. I think that team with the injuries and Wilson had no business winning. We handed both of those games but felt like the jers we really just completely gave them everything. At least lock made plays and walker ran well. Jets really did next to nothing on offense except when we gave them everything on turnovers

I got to believe that's on Hurts.

You're telling me an NFL offense doesn't have any hot reads for blitzes?   I just don't think Hurts is changing anything or calling any audibles in those situations.   He just thinks he'll make something happen.

He needs to learn to get rid of the ball.   He's in year 4 now.  If it doesn't click soon, it is unlikely to ever click.  At the end of the first half, he nearly cost us a FG attempt by not throwing the ball away against a free blitzer... and then the run to the boundary where he cut back, and back to back plays.  It absolutely also cost us a down to try for a TD also.  Should have had 3 plays for the end zone and a timeout in the pocket.  Instead got 2 shots and a bone headed play by NY is the only reason we got 3.

Believe the lions need the niners to lose another game cause if they both go 13-4 then the niners win it due to conference record would be better. Niners would be 11-1 and lions 9-3

Purdy also doesn't live by the three I's: Intensity, Integrity, and Intelligence.

It does, but if this team puts this level of play out against any playoff team, it is likely one and done in any round.  That was some bad football.  Fortunately the Giants reverted.  But I'll tell you, if that had been Daniel Jones instead of Devito and Taylor, the Giants likely win today.

Yep, a three way tie at 13-4 would be SF, DET, PHI. Crazy to think you can win 13 games and only come away with a single home playoff game.

Hurts rolled right 4-5 times again today with absolutely no one to throw to and just heaved it out of bounds.  Not sure why he always seems to do it when his targets are 80 yards away on the other side of the field.

The niners could've rested week 18 had they won tonight and if they win in washington.

The eagles did it to themselves they would've been in drivers seat heading into week 17 if they didn't lose to seattle

Im just saying a 49ers loss makes the Eagles more likely to have to play week 18 and not rest starters.

I don’t know, that was such a Looney Tunes play. OZ somehow managed to punch the ball out perfectly. It was probably their best strip of the year outside of Roby’s on Kelce and it was on his own guy. The same thing happened earlier in the season when AJ rocked Swift and he fumbled. This team has had some of the dumbest plays this season it’s just mind-blowing. Statistically improbable crap happening every week. But this defense can’t buy a turnover if you placed the ball in their hands.

I don’t think we see much of a difference in input if you switched Gainwell out with Scott.

especially when the lions probably should’ve been swept by the bears and really lions haven’t played great since their bye week besides the broncos game.

A Dallas win against Detroit and the Eagles still have to play starters to win the division.

Same could be said about Eagles, referring to Washington.  A defense I can't remember the last "good" game this team has played.  Maybe Miami, or maybe go all the way back to the Rams?
