He has two of the best WR in the league and one of the upper TEs. No excuses.

Let's just forget about the best o-line in the league as well while we're at it

Yep. That too. No excuses at all.

Possible but also take into account the career trajectory of big men versus skill positions. Look at Javon Hargrave's career trajectory. It takes time for big DTs to grow into the position. Your analysis sounds very similar to years of people carping on how Graham was a bust early in his career and how the Eagles should have taken Earl Thomas. Not so sure that NFL execs don't understand this based on what DT and DEs get paid versus safeties. I get the snapshot in time that you are taking but I don't agree with it based on a longer term view of player value in the game.

You could be right.  That is a good comp.  That is the optimist's way of viewing the picks.  I'm not an optimist.

Hurts might not be the problem, but his play has been a problem.

This.

Two terrible late game INTs the difference between 11-4 and 13-2.

Not sure what to think of Maddox. He practiced full all last week, but they held him out.

I would think if they’re serious about trying to have him play in the playoffs, that he needs to get a game or 2 under his belt before being thrown in to a playoff game.

Hoping he goes this week.

I'm sure this has been talked about. Smith's TD he was the slot receiver.  Beat the CB by 5 yards on the slant.  Perfect throw, of course, but more of Smith and Brown in the slot utilizing their great route running and explosion.  Should happen multiple times a game for each.

Well he tore his pec and had surgery, so it's not completely surprising to me that he can run around and do a full practice but still may not be cleared for contact. It's not like he's wrapping up or tackling people to the ground during practice. I do agree, it would be ideal to have him out for at least 1 game before the playoffs to knock off some rust. I'm guessing they are working on building up his stamina during practice.

Poor Ertz

Someone remind what the reason for trading for Albert O was?

To lock up a roster spot, GM hard mode.

So Rashaad Penny didn't feel bad being the only player wasting a roster spot.

If Slay misses this week, there's no way he plays his first game back at Metlife on that turf.

Personally, I'm fine holding him out until the playoffs. We have no chance without rested Slay anyway.

Hurts isn't the problem, he's made some mistakes (stares down Brown too often) but there is no 3rd WR, 2nd TE or RB threat at receiver, so teams scheme to take away the big three and force the Eagles to beat them with marginal personnel.

Been saying this for about two months now. It’s way easier for Dc to scheme a plan knowing they are only going to throw it to 3 players

Slay is either resting, or pining for the fjords:

Ok here ya go, these are the scores at the half for all games:

vs NYG: 20-3

vs SEA: 10-3

vs DAL: 6-24

vs SF: 6-14

vs BUF: 7-17

vs KC: 7-17

vs DAL: 14-17

vs WAS: 10-17

vs MIA: 17-10

vs NYJ: 14-9

vs LAR: 17-14

vs WAS: 10-17

vs TB: 13-3

vs MIN: 10-7

vs NE: 16-14

By my count, I only see 3 games (SEA, SF, and maybe NYG) where the defense "kept us in the game" only to collapse in the second half from being gassed or whatever you said.

The last time the offense had more than 14 points through 3 quarters was the first Cowboys game, all while turning the ball over constantly. Keep defending that garbage

Steelers. Perfect

Four months until the draft.  Found this listing.  We are top-10 in draft capital. Even better, Dallas is near the bottom.

Is that real? I though the Eagles had somewhere around 5 picks with a lot more depending on comps.

We currently have 5 picks. They are factoring in Comp picks.

Let him rest the last two games. Make sure he is as healthy as possible while giving the young guys some work against some bad offenses.

Not sure about AJ in the slot since teams are doubling him anyway. But I agree about Devonta.

When it comes to MVP discussion you have to adjust for draft position.  That’s why Brady won it so many times.

my logic is bullet proof.

And Lane simply hasn't played well for a month, with Jurgens in and out of the lineup, the right side has been shaky.

The play calling also sucks, but Siri is heavily involved in game planning, so can't put all the blame on Johnson. They're so dependent on the RPO they haven't mastered the basics of a NFL offense, They run WR and TE screens, but almost no RB screens - but one purpose of a screen is to get someone with open field running skills in space behind blockers - neither Brown or Smith or Goedert is that kind of runner (Brown is best on slants, Smith is a receiver, and Goedert as a runner is a big fullback).

No motion, no bunch formations, when they try to run picks the WRs have bad technique and get called for OPI, and so on.

Heck my Longhorns run a more sophisticated offense than the Eagles.

First sentence exposes the flawed assumption so the rest is just bloviating

this is Hurts’ offense and any above average defense can hinder him
