This is the most blatant screwjob since the NO/LAR game.

So even if there were other penalties he reported and that was called. Not a good look. League is rigged.

Yeah. Roman Circus... nothing to get the blood pressure up about for sure. Just a distraction from the real issues that are Fn us everyday. That Barnes play is ultra sus to me.

Well if the league is rigged for the cowboys they are doing a sheet job of doing anything with it for the last 30 yrs lol.

Those penalties were because they said he didn’t state he was eligible. Illegal formation, illegal touching, ineligible receiver, etc are all wiped out if he reports eligible, which it looks like he did.

Illegal formation wouldn't matter regardless of whether he's eligible or not. The rules there are more straight forward, you need 7 on the LOS and 4 off the LOS. And if you're in tight, you must be off the LOS to be eligible if you're uncovered (meaning somebody else is outside of you off the LOS if you're already.)

You see this often with bunches or a TE who steps back to reset after a WR shift.

Edit: I was wrong, it does matter, the outer most player on the LOS must be eligible, so if they say he didn't report, then they're saying even if he stayed in to block it would've been a penalty.

It’s not rigged for the Cowboys. It’s rigged for the most chaos.

THERE WAS NO PENALTY

How did the routes look on the other side. Didn't check to see if there was illegal man downfield but seems like this play was well planned out.

Looking it up, I think I had the rule wrong, it's even simpler than I recall. Outer most players on LOS can be in tight and still be eligible if they're on the LOS, regardless of who's lined up next to them. Every other player on the line between those two are then considered ineligible. All players off except the QB are eligible.

The offensive team must be in compliance with the following at the snap:

  1. It must have seven or more players on the line (3-19)
  2. Eligible receivers must be on both ends of the line, and all of the players on the line between them must be ineligible receivers
  3. No player may be out of bounds

I think Schwartz is wrong there, technically it would've been ineligible receiver down field, not illegal formation.

Nevermind, the rule does state the receivers on the end must be eligible. Yeah so it did all come down to who reported. What a shitshow.

Not the first time the lions got screwed in Dallas. Remember the PI called on Dallas’ Hitchens when trying to cover pettigrew and then ref picked up the flag after dez ran on the field with no helmet to yell at the officials in the 4th quarter of the playoff game with the lions at midfield and up 3. Lions got screwed then too

68 reported im sure the refs fd up. Only 3 guys went out on routes and they were all eligible. terrible

JFC this Fing league

What also has to be considered is Dallas didn’t cover a player who was not reported as eligible, as you wouldn’t. Ref calls out his number, Dallas D then acknowledges him, and that play plausibly goes differently.

I guess if the ref had reported the correct eligible player Dallas would have covered him so maybe it wouldn’t have been that easy?

i remember that game, I was at s ski lodge in Colorado at the bar

Until this season, that was our last victory in Kelly Green. The following season we switched to Midnight Green.

One play that always sticks in my mind from that game though, was right before halftime where Peete threw the TD right before halftime. It was also Randall's final game as an Eagle at the Vet.

Maybe three needs to be a more objective and less asynchronous way to report eligibility. Can you imagine if this was how a playoff game ended?

Yea this is more embarrassing than the replacement refs

Feels good to be the #2 seed.

NFL Films mics must have picked up the audio of Decker reporting.

If the NFL vetoes letting it out, you know something was rotten.

NFLE

That was no mistake.
