Nah.  The hope was that Patricia could make them slightly better.   This looked the same as with Desai.  

The scheme is broken.  The players aren't as bad as they look.  They are bad, don't get me wrong.  But, across the league, other really bad personnel defenses are putting up better efforts than this dreck.  The scheme is why it is so historically terrible. 

Here's what it comes down to:

The offensive coordinator is doing an awful job, but there are too many talented players to not do something positive and score some points.

The defensive coordinator (and the new one) is also doing an awful job, but there aren't enough players on that side of the ball with talent to make a drive killing play every now and then.  We need someone to win on 3rd down and then the team can get off the field.  Last year, that guy was Reddick quite often.  This year Reddick seems to be in witness protection.  When was the last time he made a play?

Both units deserve to be blast, i personally think the O more.  The D is void of talent for the most part, on the other side, the O has probably the 2nd best unit in the league.  There’s zero excuse for the O to be completely inept.

The drive after the onside kick when JG tried to hand the game to Nick, was possibly the worst drive by any team all season.    Dude literally handed the offense a short field and BJ, with Nick went full mongoloid.

Uh we played against a defense that’s statistically worse than ours. Offense isn’t the reason they lost today but they sucked as well.

The offense has to be perfect every. single. drive with this defense. Other teams go three and out and punt all the time. It’s not the end of the world. But it is for this team when they give up 75 yard scoring drives every drive like they did today. 
 

The offensive sequence after the onsides kick was a disaster. But they still moved the ball into FG range and got three. But we all still knew the game was over because of the defense. They needed one stop from the defense today and couldn’t get it. 
 

You’re not going to score on every offensive drive. That’s not how it works. But this defense magnifies the offensive errors because of how pathetic they are. 

It does exacerbate the offensive issue, of course.   BUT... the offensive issues go back to the beginning of the year as well.   QB draws constantly when we get into the red zone, turning to QB runs constantly when they 'need a play'.  Just so much BAD design.  I'm not talking about execution, I'm talking about the DESIGN.  The design has been brutal, and this team is way way too talented offensively to be held back constantly.  But they SHOULD be scoring on nearly every drive with the talent level on that side of the ball.
