Is this the first time the blog has been in 100% agreement that we fire the fing OC? To add insult to injury with his FAIL screens he got Smitty hurt. Fer needs to go.

Nope…you punish them for their lack of effort this week by playing them.  Full week of practice too.  Coaches can’t go home all week, spend 20 hrs a day watching tape and scheming.  Hard work pays off, and the team and staff as a whole need a lesson.

There is so much talk about 'accountability' with this team.  Seems its just talk.

His draft may eventually be good. But as a SB contender going for a title shouldn’t be banking on a draft class to carry them. If that’s case should be in rebuild mode and you shouldn’t have extended slay and bradberry and just went young everywhere surrounded by veterans like reddick, sweat and maybe Cox/graham who could still play solid depth roles and help. Like the chiefs did last year with their defense.

no one wants to talk about it but since 2016, the reason the defense is so up and down year to year is because they don’t draft and develop guys at the level like San Francisco and Baltimore does. SF and Baltimore adds guys into the equation that helps but they aren’t solely reliant on them. The Eagles rely on almost exclusively older veterans who they drafted ages ago or in free agency to make up a defense. If you were better at drafting and developing guys, you would have a young fast defense. You have sweat, Davis, Blankenship and Carter as young starters. I’d argue davis and sweat have not been really good in like 2 months. The rest are older guys and veterans who likely downside of their careers and aren’t worth their value.

That’s because all the Eagles top defensive picks are always defensive line. They haven’t drafted a non DL defensive player in the first round since 2001. Other teams draft all types of positions in the first round. The Eagles refusing to take other positions but DL with their best pick every year is what has caused them to need ti go out and pay aging veterans at the other positions. Because the hit rate with your worse picks to address those other positions is going to be lower.

Fire Brian Johnson. Bring it Reich. Probably will be the move for 2024 anyway. No major offensive changes needed. Better play calling.

No idea how to fix the defense at this point.

I think Frank rides off to the sunset.  He gets paid either way.  He's over 60 by a good bit... might be time for him to just enjoy retirement.

The cowboys won the division today. But I guess since they only need to tie Detroit to get the #2 seed they will still play.

So they did.  My bad.

Yikes

I hate seeing all those guys go or retire, but the eagle should not be this reliant on them and even lane included. All have been drafted over 10 years ago. They’ve gotten more than they likely should’ve gotten.

Minny

Packers

Bucs

Saints

Rams

Falcons

All could be the Eagles First Round Opponents.   Nothing is decided yet accept the fact we are playing on Wild Card Weekend for sure.

I hope Desai is laughing his ass off right now...

Defense was crap under him, but this is historically bad

It was historically bad under him too.  When was the last time a defense gave up 9 TDs on 9 consecutive drives... or 10 TDs on 11 drives (FG on the 11th)?   This isn't worse... its the same.

One and done… we all know it.

So imagine being 10-1  and finishing 11-6 (losing 5 out of last 6 games)  Without losing your starting QB or entire starting oline....

Thats some feat.

I really dont want to see any of the defensive players back next year. I get we are probably married to Davis, Carter, Smith, Brown, Blankenship and Ringo....

But everyone else may go. Buh Bye. Slay,Bradberry, Cox,Graham, Reddick, Sweat,  and the rest the guys who play like no names. Not one play was made by any of these guys today

And every single coach on the defense needs to go as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

7-2 to 7-9.   Fired HC.

10-1 to 11-6.   ???

And all of them could and will beat the Eagles.

Seems like a fireable offense to me.

No repeat winner for the NFC East since 2004 continues.

So why do the Cowboys own the spot currently? What is it coming down too? I know they have the same overall record, same divisional record, and we’re 1-1. What’s the next? Thought it was strength of schedule which the Eagles had the edge on? It doesn’t matter because they would just lose to a wild card team. I’m just curious.

It's still Desai's scheme.

It's all bad. We can blame him and his entire staff.

Yeah, but isn’t this a case of not being able to make chicken salad out of chicken…

I would agree with you more except spent a second round pick on Sidney Jones, who wound up being bad. They spent a third rounder on Douglas, who is actually good playing elsewhere. Brown is a 3rd rounder. Taylor was a third rounder. Dean is a 3rd rounder. Williams was a 3rd rounder. They’ve spent resources in the first 3 rounds and should have more to show for it then they do. their first round picks you can make that argument as they need to draft other positions besides DL, but the issue is they haven’t hit nearly enough in their defensive picks even when they spent on in the first round. I’d argue davis has been pretty mediocre considering what they gave up to get him and where he was selected. Has the same issues since we drafted him. Since 2016 the eagles have mills, Carter, sweat, maddox as draft picks who have lived up to their potential or where they were drafted (with the eagles not in gb or Buffalo).

The Eagles don’t deserve to even get in the playoffs let alone win the division. They should just forfeit

Eagles win, Cowboys lose, we win division.  Any other outcome, Dallas wins due to conference record.   They lost 2 AFC games, the Eagles only lost 1.

This.

The Eagles were handicapped in the hiring process for DC in the offseason because of the timing of the Gannon hiring in Arizona.  They weren’t going to get their top pick of DC, and they’re paying the price for it.  Desai simply wasn’t the right hire.

Did Nick have 100% autonomy in hiring Desai, or was he a Howie/committee hiring decision?  A lot can be fixed with the defense by going younger and going more aggressive.  The best defenses in the NFL (SF, BAL, DAL, CLE) still play an aggressive philosophy rather than a two high safety shell defense).  The Eagles philosophically are too dependent on the DL disrupting the QB.  When it doesn’t happen the defense gets shelled.

Reddick? He hasn't had the year he did last season, but he's been one of the only players that has shown up.

And we can't afford to cut Slay or Bradberry with the cap hit, iirc

We are pretty stuck hoping ringo and ricks can develop

Need better players at LB and secondary and need a new defensive philosophy/scheme.  Time to move on from the Fangio defense.

So at #5 seed we get TB or the Saints. Win that and we most likely get the 49ers. Best case Cowboys and Lions lose and we get a home game. One of them lose and we get the one that doesn’t.

its over; the eagles have been waving their white flat these last 2-3 weeks

I’m not saying Desai is blameless at all but if you’re going to blame anyone for how bad the defense is, blame Howie. These players suck. The LBs and DBs just can’t cover or tackle anyone.

Ringo hasn't been as awful as I feared he'd be... but he was really bad on the second to last TD.
