How do we know Siri was the one who demoted Desai?  I'd guess it was Lurie or Howie who gave the edict.

At this point I wish Desai was still in charge since at least they would tighten up on D in the 2nd half, instead of just collapsing against bad teams as they're doing now.

I've seen a few people report it was Sirianni's idea with Howie giving the go ahead to allow it. And Sirianni said this is how it went down publicly(not the Howie part). Until we have concrete evidence it didn't go down this way I'm going to assume it did.

Silver lining…the eagles were never going anywhere this year and now we don’t get a first place schedule next year.

THAT is why it was moronic to root for the Cowboys last night.

I certainly didn’t root for DAL last night, but will reiterate the way the Eagles defense is playing it just means they’ll lose to the #4 seed instead of the #7 seed in the wildcard round.

If you can’t beat ARI you can’t beat anybody, and playoff seeding matters zero

Yep. Said that last night to RTK. They had one more crap the bed in them.

This.  Imagine thinking a team that gets hammered by Arizona at home could have made a playoff run if they backed into a division win and the #3 seed.

No chance.

Did anyone in here honestly think we'd get back to the SB and win it?

We all know the SB loser doesn't get back to the big game, let alone win it.  It just doesn't happen.

We basically had a SB hangover but won 11 games somehow.

I said at the beginning of the year I didn’t think they were gonna get back there. Too tough. And the niners we’re gonna use that loss as a chip on their shoulder. I thought they lost way too many guys on the defensive side of the football and they weren’t gonna be able to make up. Just cause you signed some guys doesn’t mean the adequate replacements. Really the only decent replacement they got for the guys they lost was reed Blankenship for Epps and Carter. But  Carter alone wasn’t going to make up for losing suh, Joseph and Hargrave. The office I thought would be good enough to make up for the regression of the defense. And by the end of the year you hoped that the defense would jail to the point that they could be competent. But the office has bad playcalling at times, a turnover problem, inconsistent hurtd and misusage of personnel

However, there are bigger long-term concerns to me than just this year. I think it’s gonna take them about another off-season to get their defense where they want it to be as a championship level defense. And that’s if you get the right guys in draft and FA, young guys make jumps and hire the right DC. I thought the eagles defense needed almost a complete rebuild after 2020. I still feel that way now. They won’t do it cause they will be stubborn and financially they can’t really afford too, but I’d love to just move on from bradberry, slay, graham, Cox, byard, Cunningham and Leonard. Just go completely young and let’s see who sinks and swims. Fast we find out the fast we can start looking for other options.

On offense, i think pieces are there to be really good next year but need a change at OC. Johnson should be getting better each week and seeing improvements. He’s not. Same mistakes and issues he had back in September. We are basically the same as we were week 1 when we questioned it. Guys are frustrated. Hurts needs to get back to being more consistent, not being a turnover machine and seeing the field better. Cause if he’s gonna be super inconsistent this is the type of season you are gonna get. We also need to fix the running game cause too often it’s inconsistent week to week and series to series. we have no creativity in this office. It’s simply about our best guys are going to be your best. And at some point in time you’re going to run into teams were you can’t do that.

Maybe the Eagles come back in 2024, and they’re refreshed, new mindset and they don’t have a Super Bowl hangover/brutal schedule and all the stuff goes away. But I have a feeling you’re going to see another regression next year. 2024 is going to tell us a lot about where the eagles stand as an organization. Also show us where the defense, sirianni and where they go moving forward. Also going to see if hurts is closer to 2023 or 2022. I think 2024 is a major crossroad for the eagles organizationally.

And probably the majority of this board wanted Desai gone as well.

Can't complain about wanting Desai gone.  Then Nick does it.  Then question why he did so.  ( Not saying you in particular)

If you expected the Eagles to get beat by the (then) 3 win Cardinals and are therefore afraid to root for the Cowboys, you probably shouldn’t be watching this season at all.  You already knew enough to save yourself and yet you stayed on the titanic.

Otherwise, root for the scenario that gave the Eagles the 2 seed.

I turned it off at 21-21. Totally disgusted. Next Sunday I’m going to the Philadelphia Orchestra concert during the game. Time better spent. All Mozart.

Everyone says I’m so negative.  I’ll be watching next Sunday.  Even if they bench all the starters.  And I’ll be there wringing my hands when their season ends at the hands of either the Bucs or 49ers.  We’ll learn a bit of what to expect for the future from these 2-3 games.

I don't think they're going to bench the starters. They can still win the division and the Cowboys/Commies game will be on at the same time so the Eagles and Cowboys have something to play for.

What is there to learn that hasn't already been exposed. Will the "brain trust" do the right thing and pull the trigger on removal of the coaching staff. I mean, it's no secret around the league how bad things are...we very likely are no longer an attractive spot for a potential free agent.....

Most knew 6 or 7 games in we had some issues.

yeah I guess you are right..

But once the season started I thought at minimum NFCCG

Eine Kleine Nachtmusik has already started for the Eagles.

Yea, for now. We’ll see. It’s like almost every team in the league has gotten hot just to eventually fall off.

Yep, it’s a week to week league. I wouldn’t be surprised at anything this year.

I agree at this point I hope it's the browns and lions in the super bowl.

Baltimore though I think the eagles need to take a look at and I've said this before.  They changed the way Lamar plays this year with the new OC.  Why couldn't philly do the same with a new scheme and oc. Quit being stubborn and realize we need to change. Even Dallas made a change on the offense and Dak even if you don't want to admit had put up good numbers this year.

Their defense was always good but man that team is loaded on the defensive side of the ball.

The offense is often at times completely and totally dysfunctional - as it was on the series of plays that started at 1st and 20.  That wasn't bad offense, that was completely dysfunctional and they struggled to just get the right personnel on the field, and then on top of that, they ran give up plays.  That's coaching.  Offensive coaching.   We have playmakers on offense and the coaches refused to even give them a chance to make a play.  Run by Hurts... run by Hurts... bubble screen to Gainwell.  How'd that work out?

I’m not defending the offense on that drive. It was a disaster of miscommunication and play calling in that sequence. But that drive was more than likely finished after the Mailata penalty and then Hurts taking the loss of yards. They still took three minutes off the clock and got into chip shot FG range for Jake to retake the lead.

Complaining about the offense in this game is kind of like complaining about a table with a squeaky leg when the roof just caved in. For how flawed it is, this is still a good offense overall. And if they just had an average or heaven forbid an above average defense to complement them, they’d be in Super Bowl contention.

This defense has never, not once in the past month and a half picked up for the offense. It’s demanded that the offense be perfect every single freaking drive. The offense can go three and out, punt, pin the opposing team inside the 20, and they’re already in scoring position 3-4 plays later. So when you get sequences like you did there after the onsides kick where they still took time off the clock and got three points, everyone knew it wasn’t good enough.

It’s like trying to make up for a slow fat kid in a relay baton race. He never puts you in a position to win the race regardless of how fast the other runners are. And it’s distorting our expectations for what this offense should be.

I answered what reason we have to believe it was Siri's decision.  I shared the quote where he said he it was his call.

I want SF to win it so they drive up their contracts, blow their load, and are not NFC road blocks moving forward.

I would like to see a complete overhaul of the defense this offseason.   Obviously they need LB and Safety.   We can hope that guys like Ricks, Ringo, Sydney Brown, etc make a nice jump but we don't know if that will happen.

There needs to be a new DC and new position coaches on defense.  A whole new scheme and philosophy needs to happen because this current one isn't working.

I was one of the few that defended desai. I didn’t love desai. said if they fire him then fine. I felt like he was the scapegoat for the eagles using a bad philosophy in fangio defense and howie’s poor job this offseason building the defense and a poor trade of byard. It’s shown now that it wasn’t going to make much difference putting Patricia as DC. He’s been awful outside of when he had belichick holding his hand. So you were essentially trading one inexperienced poor DC for a more experienced bad DC that only had consistent success when he was with belichick

i don’t know if desai ever is a good DC. My guess is he’s likely never going to be. but he was inexperienced and learning. Of course he wasn’t going to be great against 3 top 5 dvoa offenses in Buffalo, Sf and Dallas in 3 consecutive weeks. He doesn’t have the personnel or years of being a Dc. There was always going to be a learning curve. Just hope it was faster and it was further along than it was by the time you got to that gauntlet. Patricia is what he is. He sucks. The only hope people had was Patricia couldn’t have been as bad as desai was the last 3 games he was DC. I’d argue it’s actually worse. They’ve found ways to give up points to even worse teams and get worse as the games went on.
