Agreed.   I loved the 1-2 punch of Blount and Ajayi in 2017.   So beautiful to watch.  And when you use them during the course of the game, when you need the run game at the end, the defense is worn down and you get run an effective 4 minute offense.  Something this team showed it can do ONCE this year... but because they haven't consistently run the ball earlier in games, they haven't been able to turn to it when they need it at the end.  A really good 4 minute offense would have saved the game on Sunday.   Oh well...  we need more explosive plays.   😕

Would love if they get another Blount type of RB. I think one would have paired great with Swift but they decided to have Gainwell, Scott, Swift, and Penny

I might be nuts, but I think having the Michigan DC and the Michigan players would likely be an upgrade over our defense.

Moore is going to be a heckuva NFL player IMO.

Isn't Hurts his good friend?

Tell Hurts to change the play then and throw it down field.

I think the offense would survive a scheme change whether it's losing Nick or Brian or both. It's too talented

Though I don't know what happens with Swift. I'd be shocked if he gets a contract so he likely goes somewhere else. IF he does leave then they need to replace him which wont be fun. I'd love if they just get a RB that will hit the hole and run over players. Don't want one that's trying to juke defenders

Free agency is actually pretty nice this year with running backs. How much tread is on some of the tires is unknown but i also think a lot of these backs aren’t going to get the deals they think due to age and just the position

so FA are

derrick Henry

saquon Barkley

tony pollard

Austin ekeler

Josh jacobs

gua edwards

deandre swift

Zeke elliott

donta foreman

Devin singletary

Jk dobbins

Normally I'd agree with you. But Michigan getting caught cheating has kinda soured me on rooting for them here

What exactly did Michigan actually do that every other football team from the top of the food chain at HS through NFL doesn’t?

So Bama paying for recruits the last decade isn't?

You think Michgan wasn't paying for recruits the last decade?  Hell, most (if not all) P5 programs were doing that on one level or another.  But sending a staff member over to the other teams' sideline to spy on them and steal their signs/signals is just next-level dirty.

Seth Joyner goes off…

He probably told them their scheme sucks and had other ideas.

Ya... doubtful they'll ever get a viable DC if they keep micromanaging the scheme from the FO level

They might need to start doing that.  I’m guessing out of respect for the coaching staff they haven’t yet…but…

Either Hurts can't do it or isn't allowed.

I'd think most if not all top QBs would have the ability to change plays at the line.

Does he not want to upset Brian Johnson?

When Hurts starting changing plays, the coaching staff started a whisper campaign by feeding the media that Hurts changing plays is bad for the offense.

I think he can change to specific plays but it’s usually limited between "this play or that play” not the entire playbook.  Like on that 3rd and 20 series I’m guessing his choices were QB draw or bubble screen smh

He's changed the play before

Yup, and Pickett isn't near good enough to have that kind of clout.

Makes it worse on his behalf is that Mason Rudolph has looked better than both he and trubisky the past couple weeks. Which wasn’t hard to do to begin with but Rudolph managed to put up 30 and 34 points the last two weeks.

Bama RB said nah I’m not getting lit up there.

I remember some people thinking that they were "holding back” game plans for the playoffs. Was blowing the division and a home playoff game a part of that plan?

I do currently believe that they are "holding back" something.   I wouldn't say it's game plans.

Are you arguing that the Eagles are so stupid that they don't realize that you NEED a big back to run out the clock in the 4th Q?

Either the Eagles are so stupid,  or they already got all the wins they needed when they were at 10-1, and it hasn't mattered, so it hasn't been great.  But now that it's playoffs time, they'll roll out the new hot guns and crush it.

We'll find out what happens when it happens.

I've heard the "races, like marathons, are only won by running as fast as you can at the start of the race" argument before, and it's wrong.

I've heard "no such thing as rope-a-dope,  Ali was simply not feeling well that day" before,  that's wrong.

Holding back stuff for the playoffs, when you don't really need wins,  is smart.

If I'm an Eagles coach, player or front office,  I'm hating the Eagles fans.  I would be completely fine with playing every single game on the road.   They're not going to go out there and say "wow,  Eagles fans suck,  we almost won the Super Bowl,  we're going to the playoffs again, and they're booing,  and chanting when we're trying to concentrate on offense."  But they might be thinking that.  I would be.  Screw them,  we'd rather win on the road.

Right? The stupidity to call the timeout to have that play call is really bad. knowing the Cardinals are probably gonna move the ball because your defense so you likely need that timeout for clock purposes and potentially having to try and win the game. You would’ve had more time and 32 seconds to go and try to score the game-winning touchdown.

not only that if you’re gonna call Fing screen to a running back, get it to your most dynamic running back. Which is swift who is excels in the pass game. If there’s going to be a running back that breaks open a screen and get you 20 yards it’s not gonna be Fing gainwell. It’s going to be swift.

In his Eagles career, Kenny Gainwell's longest play is just 20 yards. His longest play this year is 19 yards. They actually called a play for him on 3rd and 20. They thought he was the best option out of all the players they have on the offense. He's the 5th option and even then I hate giving him the ball. Absolutely maddening. It's just the perfect play that showcases how dumb this coaching staff is.

And yet NCAA made a rulling on this years ago with another team that the difference is negligible
