I think Edwards wanted to be in Chicago. He grew up a Bears fan and he was the first FA signing in the entire league, like 5 mins past noon. I suppose Howie could have extended him sooner though.

Tbh they could’ve extended him the previous offseason for pennies on the dollar and been ahead of the curve. Then again i don’t think the eagles believed he was gonna make that type of significant jump that he did. And i think he would’ve likely bet on himself being so close to free agency.

I don’t blame the media entirely for that situation - there were a lot of moving parts.  But the media certainly didn’t help the situation and dove right in when they got the chance.

Was there anyone in the Philly media saying, "Hey, let’s slow this down some.  We just went to the Super Bowl last year - let’s hope cooler heads prevail.”?   Of course not - they basically crucified TO as soon as they got the chance.

TO didn’t help the situation.  His agent didn’t help the situation.  McNabb didn’t help the situation and so forth.  So in a sense, almost everyone involved in that situation shares some of the blame - including the media, imo.

I know who showed up to play their ass off in the SB with a plate and screws in their leg, that's all I care about..., that and the fact that Howie after the season was on a flight to Florida and the plane was being held up for one person, TO, showing up late, then sat in front of Howie and put his seat in Howies lap for the entire flight, only to get up and give Howie the finger when the plane landed, lol.    Classic!!

I’ve said this in the past, and it’s been like this since the end of the Andy Reid era. there’s always someone in that organization that likes to run their mouth and start drama when there’s turbulence and things aren’t going well. that’s not their job inside that organization. Their job is not to give a juicy quote or leak inside intel to reporters.  i couldn’t give a flying F about Jeff McLane, Tim McManus, or whoever that reports it. That’s their job when some moron in the organization wants to say something idiotic or something they shouldn’t on the record or even leaked. The WAYYYYYY bigger issue is there’s somebody from the inside saying crap that shouldn’t be doing it.

And most of the eagles Fanbase is gonna get upset at the reporter for putting it out. Meanwhile, I guarantee you the person who’s leaking it knows that the fan base well enough and knows they are going to be more upset at the reporter putting it out there than him for saying it. So he is going keep doing it. he’ll just keep doing it knowing he’s not gonna feel the ire or be held accountable by the fan base. it’s gonna be the reporter that gets the backlash rather than him or the organization that can’t keep their crap in house or mouths closed.

Reality should be the Fanbase should be irritated that somebody nside the organization can’t shut the F up and do their job. Their job is not to go to mclane or mcmanus or Kapadia or whoever the F reporter they wanna go to to leak inside info that would be damaging.  At some point in time hold the Fing people inside that building Fing accountable for allowing continuous Fing leaks to get brought to the forefront. I can give a flying F about the journalist. Because if if is not Jeff McLane, kempski, esp or ej smith then it’s  gonna be some other dbag reporter 4 years from now.

Good points.  When I talk about the media, I’m talking about everyone - media, fans, social media, etc - not a specific reporter.   It’s the overall "vibe” that eventually could swell up into something it’s not nor should have been.

Anyway, folks need to chill out and take this for what it is - last thing anyone wants is for this to blow up like it did with the TO situation.

Every Eagles fan should realize by now that top-elite WR’s are just built different.   Almost every one of them are ultra competitive, leave everything on the field and wear their emotions on their sleeves.  But they usually move on from heated moments and continue to be elite - folks need to take this type of stuff that tends to heat up with elite WR’s with a grain of salt and move on.  It’s usually a "nothing burger”..unless we make it into something bigger.

I did read we offered more money but he wanted to go back home and signed there. But yeah, we could've offered an extension the year prior but who knows if they tried or not.
Now you need to draft an ILB round 2 and sign an outside backer in FA.

Never heard that story.  Pretty crazy, if true.

Also the whole "Howie isn’t extending anyone to keep the vibes good angle” if you choose to believe it.

I think it is a little late to chill...this has been festering for a few weeks. Where there is smoke there is fire and AJ is just a symptom of a bigger issue. For all we know the media may have been trying to keep it internally. I think there is a serious locker room issue already and it has manifested onto performance on the field.

Howie did a podcast type of thing with Kelce, and Kelce asked him about Howies welcome to the NFL moment.

The only "locker room” issue is about the play calling on offense.  And I can almost guarantee AJ isn’t the only one upset about it.  He’s the one that is most visible because he’s not going to cover up his frustration.   No reason to target him because of that and insinuate it’s an "AJ” issue when the reality is, it’s a coaching issue.

AJ is always upset about something it seems.

The guy was throwing a hissy fit on the sideline while we were beating the $hit out of the NYG in the playoffs last year.

That may be so... if taken in isolation. But...the entire Desai situation also needs to be taken into account. A team with the position and aspirations of the #1 seed doesn't just demote their DC. There is a lot more going on.

While he's making it a bit bigger than needed, the Brown criticism is strange to me.

When guys like Hurts, Smith, Mailata, etc are visibly frustrated and making comments, something is definitely wrong and Brown isn't the issue

Just my two cents

That’s pretty funny - definitely happened after the blow up though.

Saw his contract expires at the end of the year and was a report he wasn’t thrilled with how everything is being run with the titans. I’m doubting he’ll be a DC. He’ll either take a year off or find a HC job somewhere in the league.

I still want Al Harris. Weaken an opponent. Bring in a DC with Philly ties, and I hate to say it has some swag and attitude about him. That rubs off and I think his potential is really high.

I think after bringing in desai who had little DC experience that you are likely getting a DC that has more years under his belt.

Why?

How about bringing backnour d line coach from baltimore?

True. Bummer, on to the next idea.

I like that

Maybe we take a home run swing for Old Bill for HC. Stable explosive  roster, defensive mastermind to hide the holes, QB and WRs in place etc.

Brings an attitude and identity.

Yup. I tend to think lurie and howie have someone in mind. Like when they brought in Schwartz before even hiring doug.

Like he's gonna take a back seat to Howie, Halaby, Jules... Zero chance.
