I realize it’s natural to focus on the problem areas…ie the positions that suck…as the problems on this team.  But every problem area has been pre-designated as such due to the preferential utilization or resources elsewhere.

We have $250m in the QB position and a QB that isn’t a pro-bowler this year.  We have 3 first round picks and a 3rd round pick in the DT position and 0 DT pro bowlers…yet the DT we let walk last offseason is in the pro bowl.

Those positions may not be the biggest problems, but the investment there IS part of why other positions suck.  And if we aren’t even getting pro-bowl level play out of it…well, THAT is a problem.

Ugh, seeing it written down like that is eye opening. This isn't saying any of those investments are bad players but like you alluded to, if they aren't getting Pro Bowl level play out of them, yet the guy that walks is, either they just aren't as good as we all thought or they are severely underachieving.

Out of curiosity, when the coordinators meet with the media, do they now have Desai or Patricia doing it?

Gainwell is softening up the defense for Swift? What?

Gainwell gets the inside runs earlier in the game, he's a more physical runner than Swift.

Not the ideal guy for the role, but Swift is at his best when the OL can open holes to get him to the second level later in games.

I think they envisioned Penny in the power back role, but he must not have shown much to them to be stuck on the bench.

Oof for the defense

If you look on the press conference video page on the Eagles website you'll see Patricia talking after this last loss. Wasn't looking for Desai so don't know if he's speaking at all.

Wow, the stats are backing up exactly what everyone is watching. They are historically awful.🙈

Frankly think the cardinals game is more embarrassing for the defense then any game from weeks 12-14. Buffalo, niners and Dallas all were top dvoa offenses. So against a poorly coached and lack of personnel type defense it didn’t surprise me that they got lit up. However the cardinals were without their best pass catcher in Hollywood brown and the cardinals offense steamrolled them.

It wouldve been really funny if he would’ve come up short with just 1035 yards in week 18.

I don’t even know what they actually do well?! Is there anything?

Give up TDs? They do that very well.

People in here actually defending journalists  They're about as trustworthy as politicians

Yep, they are surely "givers” in that department. They’re also good at hogging the field of play, as they can’t or don’t want to leave it.

The performance against the Cardinals was gut wrenching. I can see some of the excuses/reasons for their play against Buffalo, SF and Dallas, but there are none with the way they played last Sunday.

It was soft, it was pathetic and at times it was just outright embarrassing. The way that team folded was just incredible. They had a 21-6 lead! It was all there for them. They were at home against a BAD team and they choked it. For that there can be no faith in this team for the rest of the year.

A month ago it looked like a few HCs would get fired who would be big upgrades at DC, but now it looks like Saleh, Eberflus and Allen are safe. Obviously the next one isn’t on our staff. I can’t imagine we’d go with Staley or anyone else in the Fangio tree. Who else is out there?

Don't the fans weigh in heavily on the Pro Bowl selections? Never really read much into it. There's not much of a difference from Hurts performance thus far vs Stafford. Hurts has arguably even out played him if you actually consider his rushing. I don't see it as a measurement of much of anything.

Exactly! And that’s why I don’t see them with even a one in a million shot of getting past SF or Dallas. If they had played a couple of good games on both sides of the ball during the season then I could see them reversing the trend. They haven’t played ONE complete game all year. Only the Miami game was remotely close and that’s not saying a lot.

How about a college guy who has been around for a while and doesnt seem to be head coach material, even in the college ranks. Someone like Notre Dame's Al Golden. If he gives us an average defense doesnt seem like someone likely to be moving on and up anywhere else.

Side note: I’ve always respected teams that have an identity and can easily identify players who fit. The Niners and Ravens are prime examples. Defensively, what is the identity we want to have? We aren’t fast. We aren’t physical. We aren’t aggressive. I don’t think limiting big plays and stopping the run with six in the box is an identity.

Kyle Hamilton and Joey Porter jr in this secondary and we'd be looking so good for now and the future... Howie needs to have an A+ offseason.

I for one just hope they don’t follow this Fangio tree anymore. It will most likely never happen, but I would try to duplicate what the Ravens have done for so many years…. But that would mean, they actually think linebackers are important.

90% sure it will be Staley.

I would give it six weeks before Sirianni and him get in a fist fight.
