That cliff is coming for Slay next year.

Or, he looks better.  Look at the old CB balling for Dallas.  Why not us?

Arch Manning should be in the 2025 draft, 2026 at the latest.

Maybe we should start planning to suck those years to get the number 1 overall pick and grab the next Manning HOFer.

One can hope 🙏

‘26 more likely, surely he’ll play two full seasons before declaring. Ewers is staying another year and will likely be the starter again next year at Texas.

If Badberry is on an every other year he's good pattern, he'll be back to 2nd team All-Pro next year, right?  Right?

After that game (season), some good schadenfreude helps...

The situation is weird all together. Desai was hired, and then 2 months later Patricia was hired/not hired at the beginning of a press conference, then officially announced right after the PC ended.

Did the FO have concerns early on around Desai and make the move to bring Patricia in? Did the FO/Siri panic and move from Desai to Patricia way too late? Apparently hes using different terminology and the defense is learning a new scheme on the fly. Who's idea was this?

At this point they should just simplify the defense as much as possible.

You take him, you cover him, go to the ball and tackle.

That's what happens when you play off coverage constantly, and leave wide open pitch and catch throws constantly.  QBs don't have to think, don't have to hold on to the ball and can just throw it almost immediately.  AND... there's also been some regression along the DL.   Aging players and lack of replacing the ones that left.

I think the defensive collapse actually starts in the middle. We knew S and LB were going to be an issue and then Avonte got hurt. Scheme has DBs playing off which just begs teams for quick passes over the middle.

negates our pass rush AND our tackling is weak, PLUS Bradberry seems to have lost another step and voila! A defense that can’t stop anybody!

Even if we get smoked in Tampa (maybe I should say when we get smoked), I don't see Howie and Lurie firing Nick. Firing a guy who has been to the playoffs 3 years in a row, with a Super Bowl trip, is the kind of thing that makes you start looking like David Tepper. Even if Nick deserves to be fired, I just don't see the Eagles doing it. The only way it could happen is if he resists change at the coordinator positions, but I don't see Nick standing up to Howie on that.

Offensive Coordinator: It pains me to say this, but...I'm not convinced that they will fire Brian Johnson. If they can convince someone like Reich to come in as a senior offensive assistant, then I could see Johnson staying on with some BS about how he can grow into the job. The truth is you are married to Hurts for at least 2-3 more seasons given the contract, so if he defends Johnson, you may be stuck. If they do move off Johnson, the list of names is rather intriguing. Eric Bienemy could make sense since AR will recommend him to Lurie, and he'd bring a fresh perspective. Arthur Smith...I'd pass, but sometimes good coordinators just make bad head coaches. If you want to go younger, Tee Martin (Ravens QB coach) could make a lot of sense. Others: Brian Griese (49ers QB coach), Jerrod Johnson (Texans QB Coach), Klint Kubiak (49ers passing game coordinator). I think you have to bring in someone with fresh ideas, and I'd lean towards someone with QB coaching experience since we are tied to Hurts.

Defensive Coordinator: Well, we are clearly making a change here. I really like the idea of someone like Leslie Frazier -- former head coach, respected, solid defensive coordinator. I don't know what Ron Rivera wants to do next. Jesse Minter I think goes with Harbuagh or gets the Michigan job. Dennard Wilson likely won't come back, but I'd interview Al Harris. But I want a more experienced guy here, and Frazier fits the bill.

The problem on the offensive side is that the changes have to be endorsed by the head coach. On the other hand,  I don't think we need wholesale changes to the scheme.  They just need to have better answers to situational problems.  The difficulty in keeping Johnson is that you are likely to end up with too many cooks in the kitchen.  I think bringing in a senior offensive assistant, like Reich, still may not lead to solutions because implementing and coaching the solutions have to be endorsed by everyone.

I think the defensive fix is easier in some ways.  My concern is they go for more of the same by hiring someone like Brandon Staley.  It's also possible that Howie and Sirianni prefer a non-aggressive style that adversly impacts whoever they do hire.  My hope is they consider Rex Ryan.  He did interview for the Denver job.  I think he would have the team turned around and playing at a higher level.

I think he’s just done at this point. He’s in his 30s now. Even if the eagles didn’t get CJGJ to return they shouldn’t have brought back both slay and bradberry. Should’ve brought back one but not the other history showed it shouldn’t have been bradberry. Now you are in tow bad contracts with older corners. They were better off allowing both CJGJ and bradberry to leave and then just funneling the money elsewhere on the defense or saving it in case someone got released as a post June 1st or having it for a trade.

Javon Hargrave said he still thinks highly of the Eagles and their culture but says SF practices are way harder.

Explains alot especially on defense.

Defense needs better coaching but they need to infuse good young talent. Guys who live up to where they were drafted. Smith and Davis haven’t so far. And outside of jalen Carter this defense doesn’t have many young impact players.

I’d add they need to get rid of the fangio scheme. You look last night and say well fangio had the dolphins defense only giving up 14 points. That’s cause josh Allen went full bad josh Allen last night. Had a 3 turnovers in dolphins territory and left points off the board at the end of the half. Can say dolphins made plays but really it was more Allen trying to play hero ball and making just bad decisions and not taking care of the ball. It’s a defense that if you have good personnel can beat bad and mediocre teams most of the time. But good offenses tend to just put up good numbers and points

Our secondary hasn't really been good in years, The Dline was able to mask it but this year they struggled and it really exposed how bad the defense is overall

Agreed.  Very soft up the middle in both levels of the back 7.

Practices are like preseason games.   You don't need to participate to be ready when the lights go on.

I was kinda hoping they would have traded for Surtain.

But who knows how they would have played him.

Only positive from yesterday is that Saints missed the playoffs improving our 2nd round pick
