Defense needs better coaching but they need to infuse good young talent. Guys who live up to where they were drafted. Smith and Davis haven’t so far. And outside of jalen Carter this defense doesn’t have many young impact players.

I’d add they need to get rid of the fangio scheme. You look last night and say well fangio had the dolphins defense only giving up 14 points. That’s cause josh Allen went full bad josh Allen last night. Had a 3 turnovers in dolphins territory and left points off the board at the end of the half. Can say dolphins made plays but really it was more Allen trying to play hero ball and making just bad decisions and not taking care of the ball. It’s a defense that if you have good personnel can beat bad and mediocre teams most of the time. But good offenses tend to just put up good numbers and points

What was the last impact play Jalen Carter made?   I can't remember one for about 2 months... maybe longer.  He hit the league like a man possessed... for about 6 weeks.  But, since then, he's seemed to have been in witness protection.

Or, he looks better.  Look at the old CB balling for Dallas.  Why not us?

If you want to get really optimistic, JB has a bounce back year (which has been a pattern).

Only positive from yesterday is that Saints missed the playoffs improving our 2nd round pick

Let's just hope Howie uses it wisely and makes a good pick.

He's hit the rookie wall.  Jordan Davis also seems to have been pretty quiet for the last few weeks, too.

They could beat the blitz sometimes if they would throw a RB screen once a century.  The middle screen against KC was very successful and we haven't seen once since.

They have completely taken swift out of the passing game since that game. Since Buffalo the eagles have played 6 games with swift. He has 6 receptions  in those games. Meanwhile gainwell in those 6 games had 14 receptions. Someone care to explain to me how gainwell who’s not nearly as dynamic of a pass catcher has more than double the pass catches out of the backfield over that time? It’s cause the eagles don’t know how to use their personnel or set them up properly. It is swift’s worse year of his career as a pass catcher and he’s played 2-3 more games then each season over the last 3 years.

Baldy might be right with him.  Also dislike he's always picking up other team players.  Want him to get a mean streak and just destroy dudes.  Watch him to many times just fall backwards

C'mon mad, they're bad. I agree. But nobody is going arse to mouth on them.

Had a sacks in back to back weeks at seattle and vs. Arizona but the defense wound up blowing both games so it didn’t really matter. But otherwise he’s been quiet in terms of creating turnovers.

the defense has a bunch issues but i think whatever guys had left in the tank on defense was used up in that Buffalo game and to start the niners game. They got that int by bradberry and then forced a 3 and out in the 4th then reverted. Then came into the niners game with a ton of juice. First quarter might have been the best defense we’ve seen from them since the bye week. and then it hasn’t come back since. Besides bad coaching, bad personnel, i think there’s also a bunch of guys who are on empty which isn’t surprising we have lackluster depth at DE and an older back 7

** also injuries and amount of time to come back for guys like Cunningham and slay isn’t a coincidence. Body tends to breakdown as you get older and more injuries. Then It takes your body longer to recover when you get older and neither are young players in terms of nfl standards.

Sydney Brown is apparently right about team practices

He hit the rookie wall in week 7?   He only played 48% of the snaps... 563 snaps.

23 year old Jordan Davis was overused, or so I've been told.  Consider that he ONLY played 44% of the total defensive snaps.  Granted, that's way up from his number last year (519 vs. 220) and its way more than he ever played at UGA.  But, that's an indictment on spending such high draft picks on a guy that can only be a part time player.   If Davis can't play more than 50% of the snaps in a given season, then why spend a premium pick on him?   Meanwhile, 33 year old Fletcher Cox played 58% of the snaps, 160 more snaps than Davis.   And, our 30 year old CB (Bradberry) played over 90% of the snaps... 1052.   Something is very wrong with our roster management and roster construction.

Its all fine and good to have a DL rotation to keep guys fresh... but that didn't work at all this year.   We rotated guys and they still weren't fresh.  On top of that, the place that this team invests the most is the one that rotates the most too?   Again, that doesn't make a ton of sense.  They put all their eggs in the DL basket... lots of high draft picks, lots of high salaries... and they were still ineffective.   Just systemic failure after systemic failure.

I think JD is basically assignment orientated - he holds his gap and gives some push upfield when instructed, but he isn't affecting the play 1 gap over and no DLmen is going to get a coverage sack on this team.  JC on the other hand is much more aggressive, but not as assignment sound and OLmen are increasingly beating his gifted play with superior technique (e.g., he often bulls forward low and with his head down and gets pushed straight down into the ground due to being over his skis).

3 defensive coordinators in 2 seasons can do that to any player

How did Ringo grade out yesterday?

I love BG, but he's just taking the high road at this point to make sure he doesn't burn any bridges with the organization.

Probably wants a coaching role with the team when he's done.

Someone with some creativity could likely do something interesting with this...

This team is definitely going home.

Maybe if they take it and leave all of it on the field that will fix it.

Dinged and rookie wall. Pretty common for lineman

I don’t think they need to knock the snot out of each other, but maybe longer practices with more reps outside of the classroom.
