They don’t want to pay him by firing him, I guess.

And if he resigns, the Giants can still block him from going elsewhere, apparently.

Yeah Penny does not have a future here and maybe not in the NFL at all. He looks completely cooked.

Regular season Penny, yes.  But we haven't seen Playoff Penny, whom we've been saving as our super secret weapon!

They'll trade Fields; he simply hasn't been good enough.  It's just a matter of whether they can find a sucker interested in buying.

I think they could find a sucker. There’s gonna be teams that swing and miss on quarterbacks in this draft. Or don’t believe they can get high in them up to get the quarterback they want. I think the team like the Steelers and even a Falcons would consider it. And I don’t think the price will be outrageous. Get Justin Fields. So he would basically be on a one year prove it type deal.

that said, I don’t think you keep your head coach who’s on the hot seat and then give him a rookie quarterback that he can potentially ruin again.  Eberfleus job depends on 2024. To me it indicates that they’re going to keep Justin Field. And him and Justin Field careers in Chicago rest on 2024. If I was drafting Caleb Williams, I’m not bringing him back and I’m going with an offensive mind so we don’t have the same thing happened that happened with Justin Fields and Mitchell Trubisky.

If they come out with no plan against the blitz, QB draws, bubble screens, and dropping Reddick into coverage again I'm going to be rooting for them to get blown out purely out of spite. I just have no tolerance for their BS anymore. I'll be rooting for total humiliation to hopefully get everyone canned.

If Nick/BJ don't have a legit answer to the blitz by Monday - they are going to lose or at best win real ugly against a bad playoff team.  Prime Bill B would tailor his defensive scheme weekly to confuse his opponents... not being able to install a fundamental blitz beater package over the course of multiple seasons is confounding.  Sorry, I'm not saying anything new here - it's just so mind-bendingly stupid, it's like being trolled by our coaching staff.

Classy.

These two hats would be much more enjoyable and I’d not be embarrassed to wear if the eagles weren’t playing so horribly right now

I much rather take the chance that Caleb Williams winds up being a really good player at 1/4 of the cost.

It's not 1/4 of the cost.  It will cost you the 1st overall pick.  Why not trade that pick down a spot or two and end up with a guy like Marvin Harrison, Jr.?  If Fields balls next year, then you have your man and you can pay him.  If he doesn't, then you have a high pick to work with and then you get your next QB.

Depends where you are flying to\from and the airline.  When I was going DIA -> ORD I was a lot more successful than PHL -> ORD.  That's because I was going hub to hub and they prioritize those flights.

This is better news for me.  I'm going BWI -> ORD and both are hubs.  In any case, I'm planning to pack patience on this trip.

I doubt there's a change in anything. They've had the whole season to. What makes you think they finally do it now?

Because Chad Johnson said…so I know it’s true…that we’re playing possum.

Listening to Tim McManus it sounds like he has a pretty good hunch that Jason Kelce is retiring at the end of this year. I already kind of thought that. But listening to the Philly special podcast with him and sheil, I think he has a small inkling of what’s coming.

At least we have his replacement already on the roster. Just makes Lane's replacement needed sooner now

That's actually interesting.

Before this season, Brian Johnson was seemingly on the fast track.  He was the QB coach that oversaw Hurts going from 2021 Hurts to 2022 Hurts.  He was the logical, easy choice for OC.

It's hard to argue that his stock has done anything but plummet this year.  Smells like a Rooney rule interview on the surface, but Bienemy is available and is completely free for an interview right now.  What if the NFL has a higher opinion of BJ than we think?  What does that say about Hurts?

Just stirring the pot a little...

You’re under the assumption that Justin Field is not gonna be what he’s been and you’re not gonna be picking high enough to get the quarterback you want. Nor is the quarterback in next year’s draft going to be as good as Caleb Williams or known that they can even position themselves to get that Qb even with kicks. A team had to be willing to move out and you might not be picking high enough. It is 1/4 the money. I don’t have to pay Justin Field $50 million in a year. Fields is getting that in 2025 if he plays like Daniel jones did in 2022. That’s absurd to me. Meanwhile i reset the clock and I have Caleb Williams making $9 million a year for the next four years.

You also under the assumption that Marvin Harrison Junior is going to be there when they pick. They might not get the best package from the second or third or fourth pick. They might get the best package from somebody at six or seven. So now you might not even get Harrison jr or you have to take him at 1.  I love Harrison Junior, but when my franchise hasn’t been able to find a good quarterback and Caleb Williams is probably the best ceiling and impact one they would have drafted in the last 30 years I’m not passing up that opportunity. Especially not when Justin Field I’m 3 years has consistently been the same Qb. What has he shown you to make you think he’s gonna consistently stay healthy or make that jump? Because he’s been the same quarterback the last two years and he had better weapons this year.

let me just point out, week, 18 the Bears had a chance to knock the Packers out of a playoff spot. The Packers defense had been bad for a couple weeks now. They gave up 30+ points to the Carolina Panthers. Justin Field managed to score 9 points. That’s what he’s been. He’s shows a glimpses of being good and then he either gets hurt and then just regresses back. It’s been 3 years and fields is exactly the same Qb he’s been

I look at it this way, Justin Fields if you keep him this year and he plays well (This isn’t even he plays like at a level Jalen hurts did in 2022), just plays well you’re gonna have to pay him like $45 million. As that’s what Daniel Jones got and he only played well for one year. And that’s like one of the better scenarios.

so if Justin Fields is the same player he’s been or is just not good, you’re likely going to have to give up all those pics you’ve got trading number one and some more to move back up to get the quarterback in 2025.

I much rather take the chance that Caleb Williams winds up being a really good player at 1/4 of the cost. After three years, Justin Fields has really been the same player throughout his career. He still doesn’t complete a high percentage of his passes. He misses weeks of the season because he can’t stay healthy. And I don’t think you’ve seen a big enough jump for to pass up the potential of Caleb Williams. Caleb Williams might be a bust. But Caleb Williams is also imo is a way better prospects than what Justin Fields was when he came out. I think Caleb Williams potential ceiling is significantly higher than Justin Field. And I don’t think he’s gonna have the durability concern Justin Fields has.

$45 million for average QB play...damn...what has this entertainment product turned into? That's like paying $15 bucks for a crappy hamburger.

Justin Fields in three years has not made enough jump for me to be like man he’s gonna make it in year four. He had chances. He blew one of the Lions games due to his bad play at the end of that game. He was terrible against Minnesota. He was bad in week 18. The only time he played well down the stretch was against a bad Cardinals team, falcons team and one game against lions were the Bears gave him two short fields from the 29 in the 48 yard line.

If he winds up playing as well as Daniel Jones did in 2022, he’s going to make $50 million. I don’t want to have to pay him $50 million for Daniel jones like play. Furthermore, I don’t want to have to hope to move up in the draft to get a quarterback. If fields plays the equivalent to Daniel jones then the Bears pick is likely not gonna be great. The picks you get for trading out of one might go way if he Texans in 2025. Cardinals thought the Texans were going to be bad in 2025 and that first would be much higher. It’s in the high teens and low 20s. You might wind up just getting screwed at quarterback

Idk what’s going on with steen. He was inactive  in game where we were most likely going to eventually be pulling starters. I wouldn’t be surprised if the eagles draft a guard somewhat early. Wouldn’t be overly shocked if someone like zinter is on their radar and falls to around pick 50. That seems like a howie drafting Dickerson type move

I'd bet it comes out eventually Nick took back play calling because the offense is a jumbled mess and very reminiscent of early 2021.

I like those, but the 59fifty look stupid on me. They're massive and make my head look tiny. The 59forty fits much better
