I've told this story 1000 times now but leaving the San Fran game in 2006 was brutal.  Several of our fans cars had their windows smashed in.  While walking with two fellow posters who were in their late 50s I had one guy bum rush me while swinging an empty bottle of vodka at my head.

Take the L, don't take it out on the other fans.

I was at that game. SF fans are awful.

But my takeaway was to let players play out their deals.

That's not a good takeaway. That just leads to mediocrity.

Eberflus deserves better than that.  He's got the team headed in the right direction, especially with what he's been given to work with.  No way in hell his future should be tied to Fields, who has demonstrated for 3 years he isn't going to be good enough.  Fields was a terrible pick by the Bears previous regime; Nagy and Pace already paid the price for that pick.

The Bears made the decision to hire a defensive head coach, and Eberflus has the defense progressing.  Use the #1 pick on a better franchise QB and let the OC and QB coach develop him.  CHI also has the #9 overall pick which they can use on another blue-chip positional player.

Fields ain't the guy. If that isn't apparent by now...

Braces or dentures?

Dan Quinn could be his replacement. He was popular there.

Y'all, we need to stop talking like we're happy Brian Johnson will leave.  The Panthers may suspect something and not hire him.

Instead, we need to act like we're all mad that he's leaving.  "Oh no, he's the best OC we've ever had, such a genius, he can't go!"

It worked for Gannon.

Send him to Philly

My rooting schedule for Wild Card weekend:

Texans over Browns - Texans are on the upswing and should be fun to watch next year. Big Tank Dell fan.

Dolphins over the "Chefs" - F the Chiefs and Swifties.

Bills over Steelers- can't even believe the Steelers are in.

Go Pack Go over the Cowgirls - F Dallas. That's why.

Rams over Lions - I want to see Stafford take his revenge in DET. Plus one of my business partners is a DET fan AND a Michigan fan. She's not allowed to feel this good when I'm miserable.

Eagles over Bucs - as bad as they've played, I do feel the guys will step it up one notch to be mediocre enough to send Baker home.

This one girl in HS who was ahem, "enthusiastic" about giving out BJ's at weekend parties got the nickname "cheese grater" in junior year after she got braces on.

Down to 9 degrees F? The power grid will probably collapse again.

Eh I’ve got a fireplace and a full rick of 🪵

The Panthers are jerking our chain by actually interviewing Brian Johnson right?

As far as needs heading into the offseason go, I believe LB is actually one of the top priorities considering they need at least 3 of them. Dean cannot be penciled in as a starter there. He barely played his rookie year, didn’t stand out all that much this year, and had two separate stints on IR this year.

In no particular order, but I feel these are some of their other needs:

DE is a big one since I believe Sweat is the only one on the roster next season. Need more depth here.

WR should be another, would be nice to have a solid slot guy.

RB can be a big one since I think they let Swift walk. They either can lock someone up for 4 years on a rookie deal and go through the growing pains, or hit up a cheap 1 year FA.

Safety is one with Sydney Brown out until the middle of next season. Definitely need another player next to Blankenship and some depth. Is Evan’s back another year?

DT is hurting for some depth and it’s showing a bit this year. While they will have a solid 4 on the roster next year, I think they should always be looking to invest in the IDL.

So basically a whole new defense and a nice RB weapon on offense. Get started, Howie.

Cornerback is the worst position.   PFF has only Slay as above average.   Out of 10 CBs. 9 are below average.  The Eagles need top quality additions at the CB spot.   I'd say CB should get the #1 pick at this point if there's someone good.

"It's always Slay"

Gotta say I’m shocked by Pete Carroll firing. He still is a good coach.

Whoa. Didn't see that coming.

BJ rumoured to be a candidate to be interviewed by Carolina? I mean are they trying to stay bad?

Wikipedia already says he's an Advisor now:

2023 season[edit]

In 2023, Carroll again led the Seahawks to a 9–8 record. However, on the last day of the season, Seattle was eliminated from the playoffs after the Green Bay Packers, who had an identical record but held the playoff tiebreaker over the Seahawks, won over the Chicago Bears in the final game.[164]

On January 10, 2024, Carroll was relieved from his head coaching role with the Seahawks. He will remain as an advisor.

7 open Head Coaching jobs now is probably the biggest reason why Sirianni stays. They would be getting into the search late and behind all the others.
