Speculation in DAL is that Joe Whitt Jr, not Al Harris would be next in line to replace DQ as the DC. Whitt is DQs right-hand coach. Some believe Harris will go with DQ wherever he ends up, most likely SEA. Whitt has been with McCarthy since 2008. Either way DAL losing at least their DC and maybe more. Who knows? Whitt could follow DQ and Harris could stay...

Before the SEA/Carroll news today DQ had already confirmed interviews with Panthers, Commanders, Chargers, and Titans.

Unless of course, Jews aren't considered "real minorities" and are just considered "regular ol white people" by the NFL. Which would sound pretty antisemetic to me.

I was trying to find any sort of definition of what the NFL considers a minority. Technically, I think your argument would hold up in the court of law because I see nothing defining minority. 

 

"In November 2020, team owners approved a proposal rewarding teams who developed minority talent that went on to become GMs or head coaches across the league. If a team lost a minority executive or coach to another team, that team would receive a third-round compensatory pick for two years. If a team lost both a coach and personnel member, it would receive a third-round compensatory pick for three years.

In 2021, the NFL approved changes requiring every team to interview at least two external minority candidates for open head coaching positions and at least one external minority candidate for a coordinator job. Additionally, at least one minority and/or female candidate must be interviewed for senior level positions (e.g., club president and senior executives).

Following the 2022 Spring League Meeting, NFL teams are now required to conduct outside interviews with a minority and/or female candidate for vacant QB coach positions. With many prospective head coaches beginning their careers in the QB room, the ruling is expected to help increase the hiring of minority head coaches in the future."

  1. Clubs must interview at least two diverse candidates from the Career Development Advisory Panel list, or a diverse candidate not currently employed by the club.
  2. Clubs must conduct an in-person interview with at least one external minority candidate for any GM or head coaching interview.
  3. Clubs must continue to consider multiple diverse candidates.
  4. Clubs must maintain complete records and provide them to the league upon the Commissioner’s request.
  5. If the final decision maker is involved from the beginning of the hiring process, they must be involved through the conclusion of the process.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell stated that the updates "bolster the current Rooney Rule requirements and are intended to create additional opportunities for diverse candidates to be identified, interviewed, and ultimately hired when a vacancy becomes available.”

The committee also supported new accountability measures to ensure that all teams follow the procedures outlined in the rule.

On second thought, there may be more legitimacy to the Johnson interview than I initially realized.

It’s possible CAR is looking at his tenure as QB coach and crediting him with Hurts’ 2022 development, and placing less value on his OC year.

They know they will need a strong QB whisperer to try and salvage Young.

I got there just as Malik Rose was graduating.   His senior year was my freshman year.   I got to sit in the stands next to a scout for the Lakers and chatted with him during the Conference championship game.  Was a lot of fun.

This is one of the gross aspects of DEI. In practice, it's often used by bad faith actors as a means to discriminate against others as a form of perceived owed reparations. Jews are deemed "white" in a lot of DEI circles and thus not deemed marginalized. We've seen this a lot in recent world events and news stories, I think everyone here knows what I mean when I say that, I'm being vague not to get into that whole discussion, that's for another time and place. But it is relevant here, because Jews account for only about 2.5% of the population of America. Far fewer than Black and Latino. Yet somehow I doubt Jews would be considered minority candidates based purely on their skin color. Feels like this is something that's going to come to a head sooner or later. Whether it be this year or in future years. It seems very spiteful and vindictive to not consider Jews minorities based purely on their skin color.

They’ve been to a few AFCCGs but not the Super Bowl.

Honestly, no more young coaches. I think the young coach trend can't work in Philadelphia. People simply are not willing to roll with the inexperience - so you need a McVay, Shanahan, or McDaniel (Dolphins) level hire, and those guys just don't grow on trees.

Better to get someone who's mid career with enough cards in their pocket to adapt and adjust - most of the young guys don't do that very well.

Harris will follow Quinn or get promoted to DC in DAL…unless DAL goes after Wink,  DLine/Asst Coach Weaver at Baltimore, or Whitt Jr who is a long time Asst with McCarthy for DC. 
Weaver is getting a lot of interest as DC for the work he’s done at Baltimore.
