The amount of people that are convinced the Eagles have been playing possum the last month is mind blowing.

How many people actually think that? I've just seen Ochocinco say it.

Several days left but as of today I'm thinking very comfortable victory for TB and Nick then getting axed.  Maybe I'm still being influenced from the horror of the last couple weeks but I don't see what would change things.

Um,  teams don't fire coaches that take them to the playoffs.   Also, the Eagles went to the Super Bowl last year.   These are, I guess, obscure things that an Eagles fans wouldn't be expected to know.

I'd 100% listen.  I wonder if BB would ever stoop to doing play-by-play. It would be fascinating to hear him analyze team strategies during the game.

Valid points.  IIRC, Parcells clashed over player personnel, and that was because the Cowboys were just kinda mid back in those day.  Here, BB would be given a team with a pretty prolific offense with a ton of talent on defense.  Of course, if McCarthy wins a few playoff games, then he should be safe.  (Simply getting Dallas back to the NFCCG should be enough, I would think...)

Fanbase is trash.   Fans can't handle though when the players don't give fan service and are honest about it.

Oh look! A Cowboys fan calling the Eagles fanbase trash.

It's been all over the radio all day. Seen it in Facebook groups too.

Ok Ace. How about teams don’t keep coaches who lose the locker room and completely collapse especially when the expectations are so high?9

What a screw job.

A glorious counter narrative.  They most assuredly do not get all the calls no matter what happened in every game after this call.  This was tuck rule level outrageous, IMO.

By the letter of the law it was indeed incomplete

Me.  I've been saying it for a while.  But not the phrase "playing possum."

I've been saying things like "sun tzu - art of war - appear weak when you are strong"
and
"rope a dope"

And I've been saying those things in order to explain a complex idea in ways that even Eagles fans can understand it.   Apparently,  Eagles fans are simply not smart enough to understand anything but going full force at all times.

Eagles fans running a marathon - Start with a sprint.  End with a sprint.  Sprint in the middle.  Never finish.

And before that I was trying to explain that it appeared to me that the Eagles would be withholding plays and players for the playoffs.   And it was this common sense thing I was saying that was so controversial to Eagles fans.

Sure, they might hold some plays back, etc. But they got embarrassed a couple times in there when the division and home playoff games were on the line. No way I think they lost on purpose or wouldn't have tried to actually win a couple of those games. Why would they make it way harder on themselves just to make themselves seem weak to lull the other team, who now gets to host, into a false sense of security and have to play every game on the road. Don't buy it for a second.

That's not how it was being applied at that time.

The "ground can’t cause a fumble rule” has been around since the Madden days - it’s when I first heard of it on one of his broadcasts.

The only time the ground "can cause a fumble” is if the player falls on his own, before being contacted by a defensive player.

but it wasn't a fumble...it was completing the process of a catch through the ground. Ground causes incompletes all the time.

Everybody knows the best way to make a big playoff run is to back in to the playoffs and have to play 3 straight road games.   It's fool proof.  All the greatest teams have done it.

Do you think they went 1-5 in their last six, were uncompetitive against SF and Dallas, lost to Drew Lock, lost to the Cardinals and Giants, blew the division and a chance at the #2 seed, and opted to be on the road throughout the playoffs on purpose?

Not a fumble.  Not a catch.   Ground CAN cause an incompletion, especially back then.  He failed to 'complete the process of the catch', as per the way the rules were interpreted at the time.  Ancient history.  Dallas lost.  Doesn't matter anymore.

Purely logical explanation.

Of course it's simple,  he's trying to explain to Eagles fans.

I'm just gonna go ahead and take Gene Steratore's version over yours.

Especially when they have not put a single complete game together all year. That's the long long game right there....

Yeh, that guy does not want to talk that much at all, who knows, maybe if it's not the press firing questions at you picking you/game plan apart he might entertain it, but he hasn't really shown much personality for it.

The only time this team went conservative was the last three games last season leading up to the Super Bowl. Hurts was still rehabbing the shoulder, they needed him to come back to clinch the 1 seed against NYG in week 18, and the defense pretty much carried them to the Super Bowl because it was a combination of them being good and having favorable QB matchups against Daniel Jones twice and when they knocked Purdy out. They really didn’t need Hurts to do much and basically gave him a bye all the way until the Super Bowl. And then Hurts balled out in the Super Bowl when the defense collapsed in the second half.

If one thinks they were "playing possum” or laying off the gas on purpose the past six weeks, then it cost Desai his job, cost Sydney Brown a healthy offseason where he now has to rehab and might not make it back in time for next year, almost blew AJ’s knee out, and busted Hurts’ finger up. That’s a hell of a strategy.

Or the alternative logic is that they’re just not a very good football team and all the red flags that we saw even when they were winning games continued to get worse. I think I’ll go with that logic instead.

I don't get why this team actively wants a divide with the fanbase

I'm with Slay.

I've been pointing out this terrible behavior for weeks now.   Home Field DISadvantage.

Why give a home game to fans who boo and who chant when the Eagles are on offense?

This is about where I've been. It did seem they were holding back on the playbook and letting their foot off the gas much of the season. But with everything they had on the line they still couldn't beat teams that they should have without giving it a full effort. The way we were beat by these teams in final weeks they would have had to purposely blow them. I'm still holding out some hope that a playoff atmosphere will motivate the players and maybe coaches will show us some new looks. But I find it hard, even down right silly, to believe that we are going to see a completely different team on Monday and it was all part of some master plan. That's almost a Q level conspiracy theory.

I wish DAL would test this theory because going 12-5 or 13-3 and looking good going into the playoffs only to lose at home is getting old as hell...😂
