Yep. And they are finally bouncing it outside (with success) - something I’ve been calling for

Instead of running wide receiver screens, I would love to run more screens to D’Andre Swift. His best quality might be his ability in  taking a screen or something in the passing game and busting it for some major yardage. When you go back and watch the lions games that was his best attribute during his tenure there. I think they’re still under utilizing him as a receiver. Had 3 tonight but with goedert out, they really should get him some more targets in the passing game as he’s better than what jones, Oz and whatever tight end they throw out there right now.

that said, the Eagles really need to find themselves a better, number three wide receiver in the off-season. with goedert out, you are down to really two reliable pass catchers. brown is still a handful but it does make it easier then if you had a more reliable third option out there in goedert.

Statistically from an EPA, points, yards, etc this is the same offense as last year. Think it might actually be higher in some categories. But it still feels boom or bust. Thankfully, more times than not, they hit the big play but when they don’t it gets ugly. This defense drives me mad, but they deserve a lot of credit for keeping them in the game tonight.

In a weird way, they feel like the NFL version of the Phillies. Can’t play small ball at all, but when the long ball gets going it’s glorious.

Zach Berman said Sirianni talked trash to ESP after the game.

The Seahawks might be at the end of their death March when we face them.

We also lost Steichen’s midweek contribution to the game plan. Johnson moved up but someone else had to pick up the slack for Johnson. There are many hands in success and failure.

That said, the offense was pitiful for much of the night. The playcalling looked mostly answer-less.

Who's the offensive coordinator again?

They actually are performing the same or better than last year. You do realize that right.

Yeah on paper.   Just seems like a rollercoaster on the field though.

On the other hand, it shows that this team has a ton of heart and grit - refuses to give up and finds ways to win.  That actually might be better than a team just "sailing into the playoffs”. It’s a team you can never count out because they’ve been in bad situations all season but find ways to overcome them and win.

Gotta pass block to be a RB in the NFL. That's why that guy from the Seahawks isn't playing. Would be really hard for someone like that after such a long break.

None of the Eagles running backs are big. People were talking about how he was losing weight.

Whoever I'd put back there to CARRY THE BALL in the 4th Q with a lead wouldn't have to be able to pass block.  It could be Jordan Davis.  I watch Swift stand there, wiggle his hips and lose 2 yards.  Not the worst thing in the world, the Eagles won. And the Eagles went 3 and out 3 times in the 4th Q with Swift getting

None of the Eagles RBs are sufficient as POWER backs.  I just want someone on the active roster to carry the ball with power, with the lead, in the 4th Q,  with the idea of just running the ball and running out the clock.   This is not a weird theory of mine.  NFL teams have known how to do that for 50, 60, 70 years.  I make the same suggestions of the same people every time,  but it really doesn't matter,  someone heavier than the 210 pound RBs running straight between the tackles. At least 230,  but it could be someone heavier than 330.   If you're putting Steen in at RT and putting Lane Johnson in at QB, or, as a versatile weapon who can go in motion and get under center, take the snap and plow forward. It doesn't really matter. Must be bigger than 230. If you want to run Jalen Hurts every time,  that would be acceptable.

The Eagles offense is heavily reliant on their stars. They're the only ones to play and the only ones to get targets.  Clearly,  star to star works, but it leaves a big hole where the star was when the star is out.

On the other hand,  9-1, best in the NFL.

Yes.  We've definitely seen the offense as efficient and consistent as we did last year.  No difference there

They came into this game #3. Facts

No doubt Jackson catches it.  Not sure he gets that much separation anymore though.  (Would have gotten that much separation and more during his prime - probably would have walked that ball in, lol)

To be honest, I thought the Chiefs were stupid at the deadline not to go out and try to get a wide receiver. You could see that these wide receivers were not good enough. You were still winning, but it was because your defense was playing really well. Heck even tonight they played pretty well. There was opportunity for them to get one. I think Hopkins or Hollywood brown (Fa at end of year and no extension talks with the cards so far and they suck) likely could’ve been gotten. I get you don’t want to give up a first round pick. But if the Chiefs get a wide receiver like hollywood brown, that pic is gonna be at 31 or 32 anyways. He’d have been Reid’s new desean. if you win a Super Bowl because of it it was 100% worth it.

when I watch this Chiefs team, it reminds me a lot of the 2002 eagles team. Where their defense is good enough to win a Super Bowl, but the wide receivers you have out there with mahomes are not good enough even if you have Travis Kelce and a good running game.

Are you intentionally missing the point?

Mann was good punting tonight, boomed a couple in bad weather. Siposs would've punted one backwards tonight.

Only issue has been the red zone (vastly improved) and struggles with the blitz. Think they finally found something with the screens to Swift. I blame the OL in this one more than the play calling. They got their asses handed to them.

You aren't going to find someone who disagrees on paper in me, I was saying that Nolan Smith specifically probably isn't a great call there because of his lack of overall skillset. I was a big fan of the Super Bowl year where we had Blount, for example.

If you would’ve told me at the beginning of this season Aj brown would have 1 reception for 8 yards vs. chiefs, I’d probably have asked if he got hurt and how badly did the game go.

Not at all.  I'm just not making excuses.  "Many hands in success and failure" doesn't fly when there's only one set of hands that changed from last season until now.

BJ has to be better, point blank.  "Many hands", my ass

So. We beat a really good team with maybe the league’s best defense, in KC , maybe the toughest place to play, against Andy Reid coming out of a bye, and all I’m seeing now is ****ing. Now I remember why I stay out of the Blog during a game.

I’m going to bed.

Happy.

They're averaging more ppg this year than last and it's not as simple as that equation. There are a lot of variables.

Then you don’t really get it.
