Malachi Corley

Western Kentucky

Imagine him at WR3

Get him RD2.

Offense would be insane.

Yeah, I’ve been looking at him all season as a potential slot receiver.

I only have 2 concerns:

1) does his elusiveness and power translate to the NFL?

2) Do the 3 of Brown, Smith and Corley as a group make us too small and slow as a unit? Brown is the only big guy, and he’s not particularly tall. Smith is small and not particularly fast. Corley doesn’t really bring a tangible dominant trait.

Overall I like him a lot though.

Eagles open up as 3.5 point favorites at home over the Bills.

Seems kind of light.

But, then again, we haven't really looked as dominating as our record suggests.

Reddick remembers the NO SACKS T-shirts the Chiefs wore after the Super Bowl.

I think he translates to a lethal slot WR. Especially when defenses have to account for two greats in Brown and Smith. Corley plays with intensity. Reminds me some of Panthers Steve Smith. Looks for contact.

Another guy I'm intrigued by is Johnny Wilson, FSU.

Imagine a 6'5" guy with great hands and toughness in the slot.

It has been 681 days since we did not have the best record in the nfl

Saw this posted by someone on the NFL twitter.  Lions with a better chance at winning the AFC #1 seed than the NFC #1 seed.  I saw the graphic mistake on TV after the game but didn't even think about the fact that they had a higher % chance of winning a conference they don't even play in lol.

I've been saying that for years. It makes offensive lines look better and deprives defensive players of possibly reaching certain incentive clauses in their contracts ... but the outcome on the field is unchanged.

I'm a big believer in "you can see it in the combine and pro day and high school video".

You do not need to be versatile, at all.  If you can do one thing, and be dominant with it,  all you need to do is do that thing over and over.  Under normal conditions,  first 3 quarters and without a lead,  the ability to run for 3-5 yards reliably isn't such an amazing thing.   But in the NFL,  so very very often,  many decades of NFL history, they have run the ball over and over in the 4th Q with the lead in order to run out the clock.   So extremely normal, its a cliche of sorts that you do this, yet it seems like "what to do" in that so basic a situation.

PUT BIG PLAYERS IN WHEN YOU'RE LEADING IN THE 4TH QUARTER AND YOU WANT TO RUN OUT THE CLOCK BY RUNNING THE BALL.

VanSumeren was a Michigan Wolverines Fullback for 2 years.  That is a sufficient college running back resume to use him as a Fullback in the 4th Q.  If you can find anyone else bigger, like Nolan Smith or Lane Johnson or Steen, or Jordan Davis Jalen Carter, or anyone else on the roster who weights more than 230,  that would be great too.  Doesn't matter.

But VanSumeren was on the field, made a special teams tackle.  And he played Fullback in college.   The Eagles have 3 ILBs ahead of VanSumeren on the roster,  but no RBs who weigh more than 220.  No big back,  no fullback.  VanSumeren wasn't a starter at Michigan, was behind Ben Mason, but he did run for a TD as a Michigan Fullback.  He's legit a Fullback.  Such a common thing for almost all football, a Fullback,  runs out ahead and blocks some of the time, runs with power at other times.

Michigan Fullback who is 231 and runs 4.45 is what the Eagles are lacking in those 4th Q lead run out the clock situations.

It's true they don't NEED that.  They didn't have it, but they still won.  The defense came up big. Same thing against Dallas.  Here was 1 3 and out, against Dallas it was 3 3 and outs in the 4th Q.  9-1, great team,  but it's hard not to see 4th Q time killing drives against good team as a weakness.

I don't really believe that all positions simply require the athletics to be right to make it work consistently.

However, I actually felt like a Fullback at least so we could use them as a lead made sense, I mentioned it earlier today. And I was unaware that VanSumeran played Fullback (I knew nothing about him really) - and I think that's much less of a pipe dream than the Nolan Smith route. You at least want experience at the collegiate level, and you don't want it to be from someone who actually has strong value elsewhere on the football team.

Fullbacks have been devalued to the point where they don't follow the normal football approach anymore. You can get them anywhere, it's just about identifying the talent. And they probably don't need to be 250 like they used to be because a lot of positions, including the linebackers they're usually trying to get to, have also gotten lighter. Not a bad idea, unlikely though.

But if you literally already have the person in a different roster spot, especially if they're also already active on Special Teams, doesn't hurt at all.

sticks defense is acceptable here.

It would have been if we didn't have our defenders allowing the receivers to get to sticks without actually covering them.

Short Week.  Bills are next up.  KELLY GREEN NIGHT PART 2 COMING SUNDAY.

That's the game I worry about the most the next 4 weeks in terms of a letdown after a big win against an AFC team looking forward to the 49ers and Cowboys. They should roll them but this team doesn't do anything easy.

Woah woah woah never any Andy slander here alright

I'm ecstatic we won a Super Bowl six years ago. And I love that the team right now is very good. I like Sirianni and I liked Pederson. But good God almighty, firing Reid is still something that pisses me off. Maybe I'm silly but I actually like being one of the top teams in the league year after year after year after year.

In his heart of hearts, Lurie has to admit that he absolutely blew that. He had the modern day equivalent of Shula or Landry and gave up halfway through his coaching career. Moronic.

Folks forget the offensive struggles against Indy and Arizona last season - teams that picked in the top five of the draft.

We just put up 21 points on a top-5 defense that was averaging 16 points against.

They honestly should have put up more. This without DG which is a huge loss.

It's not that Johnson isnt creative it's he is down right stupid at times. 3rd and 1 or 2 and he does that stupid play action crap from shotgun.

One drive in the second half it looked like he threw two screens in a row to two sides of the field.

Swift gets ten yards and they don't run it again for two drives.

Not running the ball before the half after the loss. The list goes on.

He is freaking atrocious at times.

There are no amount of yards I will be comfortable with on 4th down with game on the line. I’m sweating 4th and 50.

My fear in those situations is Eli Ricks getting called for illegal contact and gifting them an automatic first down. Seems like he does that at least once every game.

The screens were the RIGHT idea but the WRONG screens.

Thankfully they then threw the forward screens in the middle (really short slants). OPEN ALL NIGHT as will be the case with a blitzing D and when the corners play up tight.

I actually think the short slant is the most high percentage play in football (not really but still).

Yes, but Andy was really burnt out personally and it seemed a bit professionally then as well.  Hard to see then that he would rebound so amazingly.

Congrats on a statement win. Ugly, but there are no pictures in the standings. Enjoy it!

For a Cowboys fan, you're all right.

Going to stay on this cloud until the good stuff kicks in...

None of the Eagles running backs are big. People were talking about how he was losing weight.

Whoever I'd put back there to CARRY THE BALL in the 4th Q with a lead wouldn't have to be able to pass block.  It could be Jordan Davis.  I watch Swift stand there, wiggle his hips and lose 2 yards.  Not the worst thing in the world, the Eagles won. And the Eagles went 3 and out 3 times in the 4th Q with Swift getting

None of the Eagles RBs are sufficient as POWER backs.  I just want someone on the active roster to carry the ball with power, with the lead, in the 4th Q,  with the idea of just running the ball and running out the clock.   This is not a weird theory of mine.  NFL teams have known how to do that for 50, 60, 70 years.  I make the same suggestions of the same people every time,  but it really doesn't matter,  someone heavier than the 210 pound RBs running straight between the tackles. At least 230,  but it could be someone heavier than 330.   If you're putting Steen in at RT and putting Lane Johnson in at QB, or, as a versatile weapon who can go in motion and get under center, take the snap and plow forward. It doesn't really matter. Must be bigger than 230. If you want to run Jalen Hurts every time,  that would be acceptable.

The Eagles offense is heavily reliant on their stars. They're the only ones to play and the only ones to get targets.  Clearly,  star to star works, but it leaves a big hole where the star was when the star is out.

On the other hand,  9-1, best in the NFL.

On this one I have to agree.

Taking an athletic lineman and turning him into a FB for short hard runs would absolutely work.  The Bears did it with the Fridge and even used it in the Playoffs and/or the Sbowl if I recall correctly.  Go heavy set w 2TEs i Jordan's spot and hand him the ball. And I don't want to hear about risk of injury as our lineman take way more abuse than he would get on 5 carries in the 4th.
