I think all of that is wrong.

Elaborate please.

I kinda feel worse about tonights game now that Dallas lost. It's been a re-occurring trend for Dallas to lose to help the Eagles just for the Eagles to lose anyway.

Yes and the old timers are fading. If you are under 65 or 70 it is going to be the Cowboys.

Don't make me sad.

Last year we ran a ton of RPO where he'd make adjustment based on the defense, but we gave up on it when teams sold out to try and stop it,  Hurts should audible to plays that the coaches haven't called all season even during heavily scripted opening drives, so presumably we haven't practised much either?  That's your answer to the offense struggling?

He can audible the odd play but the reliance on slow developing routes is a fundamental part of this years offense, he can't call the entire offense at the line, that's nonsense, Sirianni has said repeatedly they don't have hot routes installed to beat a blitz, we'd both agree that's ridiculous, but it ain't Hurts fault and he can't change it at the line.

You seem to be misunderstanding me or perhaps I wasn't properly addressing what I'm saying.

I don't expect Hurts to entirely write an offensive game plan for tonight's game and call it. I do expect that our franchise QB doesn't wait until the season has completely fallen off the rails to voice his frustration. I do expect him to make changes at the line when they're dialing up a Hail Mary on 3rd and 5. It doesn't take a lot to go against the coach and say "Hey, AJ, run a slant instead" in the huddle. We've seen elite QBs do this time and time again.

The play calling is and has been dog crap. I agree. If we're going to be paying him that much, surely he can march his ass into the coaches/owners/whoever's office and explain why there needs to be a change instead of waiting 18 weeks. He wants to lead? Lead.

Yeah, I loved it. I probably still have some of those games on tape. Reception wasn't always awesome, but just having the game available made it the best quality you could ever see lol.

The good old days really, before Brent Musburger. I used to like him, but then he got overexposed and became annoying, specifically during March Madness, him and Dick V.

That was pretty much me, too. Early on (pre-1977), my bedtime was 8PM. After that, it went to 9PM but on Monday's, I could stay up until halftime to see if there were any Eagles highlights. But that slowly morphed into staying up until the game was over. My parents knew that I was just laying in bed listening to the TV through my bedroom door anyway lol.

One day in the early (to mid) 90's (I was an adult, of course) when I saw a sign at the Vet during a game (on TV) that gave the Eagles website address. This was so early in the days of mass Internet access that I didn't fully understand what it was or what to do with it. But eventually, I figured it out and got on that early version of what became PE.COM. From there, I discovered the Philly newspaper websites. Before finding those, I'd have to drive about 40 minutes (one way) to a mall in Norfolk to go to a newsstand that would have the Philadelphia Inquirer. Of course, we're so many years away from that now, that the mall (Military Circle) doesn't even exist anymore.

You missed out on the Eagles Digest it would seem. It was about 30 pages of articles. A issue each week during the year and I think monthly in the off-season. Spads creation. I had it from the end of the Buddy era and then thru to about the time Andy was hired. It was a godsend.

Someone get Joe this cup

We'll know soon, but if we can pull it together, the path to the NFCCG is open. Playing at our capacity, we're better than both of the teams in front of us right now. But we were better than the Gnats Jets and Seahawks, and we know how that turned out.

Let us win both, then have the Packers pull another one out of their hat and the NFCCG is in Philly. But A LOT has to happen before that can, so much so that I'm not banking on it. But it would be so much fun to read Cowboys message boards if it did happen... especially if the unthinkable happened and we get to the Super Bowl and then a ring. I think the entire Cowboys fandom would be instantly placed on suicide watch lol.

But again, that's much more fantasy than reality.

Didn’t mean too. Just that those dudes with the Giants focus are getting to be fewer. I’m betting we’ll over 90% of our fan base consider the Boyz the top rival.

What I meant was anyone trading for him would need to extend him as part of the deal. Like the Eagles did with AJ Brown.

You can’t give up multiple high picks for a rental.

Frankly, giving up multiple high picks and then also giving that player a huge deal is also a bad use of resources.  Cap space is limited and draft resources are limited.  Spending large amounts for both seems to back fire much more than it pays off... even if there is a short term boost.  Its not an option for building long term.   I am reticent to make those deals.  You need cheaper contributors like rookie contract players to balance the roster when you have high price veterans.

Schadenfreude

0% chance we lose to Green Bay

What do you think will happen if they lose today or next week?

lol I had a bunch of threads to link to last night (one was "Dak sucks"), but didn't have time right now to find them again. One of my Redskins fan brothers was here for the weekend and was about to head home.

For the past 30 years, he and my other Redskin fan brother had given up on the franchise. But now that Snyder is gone, I think he's wanting to get back into things. He mentioned being disappointed that Rivera didn't work out.

Unrelated, Micah Parsons is a heck of a player. Wouldn't argue otherwise.

He's a big non factor in the postseason so far in his career, as well.

For a long time, I had a cassette tape recording of the pre-game and full game of the 1980 NFC Championship and I can still hear in my head "You're looking live at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia!" and as they went to commercial, Elton John's "Philadelphia Freedom" playing.

Of course, that was before VCR's were all over the place, and we didn't get one for about 2 more years at that point (a Beta machine). So recording stuff on TV meant setting the tape recorder next to the TV speaker lol.

I probably still have that tape somewhere, but I listened to it over and over and over.

All of what you said 100%, the only way it works is if you are one player away and can afford him for that 3-4 year window...without losing other key pieces.

All of those things (except finding a trade partner for Dak) would be horrible, but hey, Jerrah gonna Jerrah. I honestly kind of hope DAL trades Micah and gets some great draft capital and maybe an asset or two. He alone isn't going to make DAL a SB contender, but what he could bring in trade (if done properly and with a little luck) could. Dak is an entirely different problem. Bottom line, DAL cannot afford to pay Diggs, Dak, Parsons, Lamb, Martin, Tyron, and DLaw...and keep other decent talent around them.

After yesterday's epic failure I would expect significant change this offseason, exactly what those changes are is going to be interesting to see. Jerrah knows he's running out of time, and quite possibly just missed his last window. It's the Cowboy way...keep the fanbase on the hook for another year, over and over and over...

Not that I dislike you, so don't take this personally, horrible is what I want.

The big question is

Does Jalen Hurts wear one glove or two? If it's two, instant L.

Elaborate please.

I have already a few times.

This isnt Siri's offense. This isnt anything like what Siri had in Indy. This is the Hurts offense which is why Siri has had to bring in all big RPO guys, including Brian Johnson from Hurts' college days. This is an RPO college offense that the eagles are running to try to make Hurts succeed.

If Hurts was not our QB we would be seeing a very different offense. More NFL style. Wouldnt have had to hire people specially to work with Hurts' limitations.

You may be right that Siri has final decision to make changes, but changing the offense makes Hurts fail and everything looks even worse. Siri is handcuffed by this QB and his basic college offense.

I see it as a good thing. Hopefully means Johnson is out whether he is hired away or fired.

This philosophy isn't Johnson's call. Do you honestly think that he wouldn't listen to Hurts if these reports are true?

This is so great because he himself buys into the hype.   The Cowboys are the most over hyped franchise in all of Sports.

Every year the media and talking heads force feed the narrative "this is the year"

and this is what that gets them.  God I love this-   You want to know why they fail year in and year out- because of the pressure to match what every year they are being sold as.   They get anointed before they do anything. Doesn't work that way

I think that came out in the late 80's? I actually lived in Texas in the late 80's, not too far from Dallass (I was at Fort Hood). I wish I'd gone to some Eagles-Cowboys games while I was there, but as it turned out, I only went to one game and that was on the weekend that I got out of the Army and my brother and I were driving from Texas to Virginia. We stopped in Dallas to go to Six Flags, then a Cowboys-Bucs game.

My brother wore a Redskins shirt and I wore an Eagles jersey lol.

Welcome to EMB where the playcalling is actually Jalen Hurts fault.

No locking on to one target and then running when it’s not necessary is.
