For a long time, I had a cassette tape recording of the pre-game and full game of the 1980 NFC Championship and I can still hear in my head "You're looking live at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia!" and as they went to commercial, Elton John's "Philadelphia Freedom" playing.

Of course, that was before VCR's were all over the place, and we didn't get one for about 2 more years at that point (a Beta machine). So recording stuff on TV meant setting the tape recorder next to the TV speaker lol.

I probably still have that tape somewhere, but I listened to it over and over and over.

Wilbur Montgomery running wild that day. I was 9 years old and that day was the start of my Eagles fandom.

So great we don't have to hear that again this season

I was 10, soon to be 11 at that time.

This isnt Siri's offense. This isnt anything like what Siri had in Indy. This is the Hurts offense which is why Siri has had to bring in all big RPO guys, including Brian Johnson from Hurts' college days. This is an RPO college offense that the eagles are running to try to make Hurts succeed.

If Hurts was not our QB we would be seeing a very different offense. More NFL style. Wouldnt have had to hire people specially to work with Hurts' limitations.

You may be right that Siri has final decision to make changes, but changing the offense makes Hurts fail and everything looks even worse. Siri is handcuffed by this QB and his basic college offense.

I don’t think Siri has an offense. Shane Stichen had him looking a lot different. I think Siri is as his coordinator is.

Not that I dislike you, so don't take this personally, horrible is what I want.

😂 All good man, I wouldn't expect anything else.

I am pretty self aware, I am sure I can be unlikeable (or at least annoying) at times to some, like today. Company recognized holiday, nothing going on, too cold for golf or to even to hang out with golf buddies and drink beer in the garage.  So here I am chatting it up like a storm with PHI fans, also why I was here talking to myself the other day...I said "self..."

Siri didn't have an offense in Indy either. That was Frank Reichs offense.

Ever seen one of these videos? This one has an extra comedic effect where Skip has trouble getting his garbage bin to work properly

That black and yellow tile backsplash by the range is hideous.

The Eagles are going to get blitzed into oblivion tonight...what are the chances the Eagles will have an answer tonight.

Ask QB1

Wouldn't wish that duty station on anyone...I'd take Twenty-Nine Palms over Killeen, although Austin and DFW are driving distance from there.

I think the Brian Johnson - Panthers rumors actually make sense. Panthers are a dump with a bad owner. They are going to struggle getting a top HC candidate unless they way overpay, and even then, it might not be enough. So they are going to have to settle for someone less. Might as well give the guy who had a hand in getting Hurts established and hope he can help Young too.

"The Peacock game"

The Dallas Cowboys are toast, and that is always amusing, but I shall write about the Kansas City Chiefs, because they were in "The Peacock Game.” The Peacock Game! For irritated fans, it immediately enters the Hall of NFL Infamy, alongside The Heidi Game, The Tuck Rule, and my favorite football calamity, Le Buttfumble.

Here was a marquee Wild-Card weekend playoff contest, walled off from the nonpaying public, all because the NFL sold the game to a mega media conglomerate, NBCUniversal, which wanted to use it to attract new subscribers for Peacock, its paid streaming service featuring French bike racing and 19 zillion reruns of Law & Order.

Far be it from me to reject capitalism in the Journal, but historically this hasn’t been the way of the NFL, where TV socialism reigns, and it’s supposed to be for each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs—especially the compulsive gamblers. (The Chiefs-Dolphins joust was available over the air, for free, in the Kansas City and Miami area, per NFL rules)

I'm praying the Cowboys hire Belichick.  Then he hires Patricia.  And he trades Dak to NE and drafts one mediocre QB after the next for a few years.  Then Micah signs with us in FA.

I don't want to see BB with Pasons.  I think we forgot he was coaching LT.

All coaches are going to implement an offense that caters to a player's strengths and weaknesses though. But if you read the article the disconnect isn't the entire offensive scheme but specific things like relying too much on vertical routes. They can still run an RPO style offense with more routes dedicated to the middle of the field.

My guess for the Panthers is Mike McCarthy.

And I still remember getting up in the middle of the night to watch the 2nd half of the SB, which they decidedly lost to the Raiders. Good thing my parents weren’t light sleepers.😅

If the Eagles fire Sirianni, it will be interesting to see if they keep Brian Johnson employed so they can get the two 3rd rounders in case the Panthers hire him.

Please take Johnson so we can bring in a qualified OC

I think that came out in the late 80's? I actually lived in Texas in the late 80's, not too far from Dallass (I was at Fort Hood). I wish I'd gone to some Eagles-Cowboys games while I was there, but as it turned out, I only went to one game and that was on the weekend that I got out of the Army and my brother and I were driving from Texas to Virginia. We stopped in Dallas to go to Six Flags, then a Cowboys-Bucs game.

My brother wore a Redskins shirt and I wore an Eagles jersey lol.

Yep late 80s with Buddy

Step away from the computer and a hit piece on the Eagles offense and a conversation about cocaine and Michael Irvin being a great guy breaks out.
