It's ridiculous that we're reading so much crap and being so down when the Eagles have a playoff game tonight.

I think we're now spoiled by recent success. There used to be a time, not long ago, when the Eagles were lucky to make the playoffs. Let's enjoy the effing ride!

Go bird!

The ride was great...  and then there seems to have been a sudden stop at the end of it.   AND THAT is what hurts so bad.

As they say, it's not the fall that kills you, it's the sudden stop at the bottom.

I was 10, soon to be 11 at that time.

Whipper snappers.  I was 18 and a freshman in college in Redskins territory.

Pretty crappy for those things to leak before a playoff game. That’s coach killer stuff.

Wouldn't wish that duty station on anyone...I'd take Twenty-Nine Palms over Killeen, although Austin and DFW are driving distance from there.

At that time, I liked Fort Hood well enough and had a couple of friends living in Killeen, but most of my off post friends lived in Harker Heights. Not that it was any better than Killeen.

For the most part though, I stayed on post. Had everything I needed within walking distance. I absolutely loved the Robin Hood sub shop at the shoppette that was next to the III Corps headquarters (My barracks were within eyesight of the HQ). The bowling alley had some of the best cheeseburgers that I've ever had, too. Then there was Schlotzsky's Deli, which was in Killeen. I didn't have a car though, so I'd have to take a taxi down there when I wanted my Turkey Original.

I only got into Austin a couple of times, and only went to Dallas for Six Flags or when I was at the airport... speaking of which, I was sitting there waiting for a plane one day when Gerry Cooney (the boxer) walked by. Looking at his fight history, it was right after his last fight where he lost to George Foreman. I got up to follow him to get his autograph, then after 3 or 4 steps thought to myself... "I'm a grown man and a soldier, why do I want another man's signature?!" and I turned around and sat back down to wait for my flight lol.

I don't want to see BB with Pasons.  I think we forgot he was coaching LT.

Stop it you ninny. We forgot? What part? The 3-4, Harry Carson, Carl Banks or LT? It wasn't just LT.

I think you forgot what he did in Cleveland -- 6-10, 7-9, 7-9, 11-5 and 5-11 over five seasons

Then he got the GOAT and was crowned the "GOAT"

I'd love to see him in Dallas with that North Dallas 40 Ima Gangsta culture.

He will fall on his face.

And I still remember getting up in the middle of the night to watch the 2nd half of the SB, which they decidedly lost to the Raiders. Good thing my parents weren’t light sleepers.😅

The first game I ever shed actual tears over...

I was like 10 or 11 when I watched him, dude played with heart and was never appreciated league wide, him and Carmichael.

Wasn’t there something about the Cowboys wearing those blue away jerseys back then (mostly losing when the had to wear them)?!

Try being the youngest of 4 boys, 2 of them being Redskins fans and the oldest being a Raiders fan during that era. Not fun! lol

It's been in the works for a bit. McManus said last week he had an article coming out today.

Man you guys are so on target today. This and the Charlie Brown reference earlier are just 100% it for me today.

I also remember being at my best friends house that afternoon, his mother being gone and us sneaking sips from the liquor cabinet (my first time tasting bourbon). Then holding my breath as I walked through the front door of my house so nobody would smell it before I could get to the bathroom to brush my teeth to try to hide the smell of the alcohol lol.

Ignorance.  Dallas is loaded with talent.  The issue has always been bad coaching hires by Jerry.  BB is also an incredible coach and the best defensive coach by far.  His issue has been that BB the GM sucks.  BB and Cowboys would be the perfect match if Jerry's ego can handle not having a pushover coach.  Take a team that does a great job drafting and building a roster and stick it with maybe the greatest HC ever.

I haven’t seen the word „shoppette" in ages!😂  back in my Army BRAT days.

That’s bad. My worst period was the Gibbs teams that won in their second wave. I was up in NoVA then. Guy sitting next to me at work was in the Skins marching band. He had a maroon car with 5 or 6 Skins hats in the rear window. Couple of Skins wives worked there as well. It was the bandwagon year one year. Dude got a bandwagon vanity license plate. Not a time to be an Eagles fan in DC area.

Haha - nah, my fandom didn’t go that far back then😂😂

Perfect match "if Jerry's ego can handle not having a pushover coach." You mean the guy who couldn't stick with his college roommate who delivered him 2 SBs. That guy.

I know it is hard to see outside of one's own reality bubble, but, ignorance is a concept you might want to explore, personally.

The big question is

Does Jalen Hurts wear one glove or two? If it's two, instant L.

The answer is one...

That was the 1987 season (January 1988) when they beat the Broncos, I had just quit my job at the AMC Theatre in Greenbelt MD (Beltway Plaza) and joined the Army about 5 months later. If I'm remembering correctly, it was a strike shortened season and if I'm further remembering correctly, it was the same season where we played them at RFK and Reggie got a strip sack where he took the ball away from either Doug Williams or Jay Schroeder, and ran it back for something like 60 yards for a TD. Epic play!

I have seen a few DAL players in public, never approached any of them. I caught eyes once and just kind of gave head nod as if to say, "Yeh, I see you but I respect your personal time.", they nodded back. Good enough for me.

Took the family to the state fair and was getting lunch once, Bill Bates was there (recently retired) with his family doing the same, never asked for his autograph, but we sat down at the same table waiting for our food and had a simple conversation. He was a really cool down to earth guy.

To this day, I still periodically search to see if I can find  a Robin Hood sub shop. There used to be one not far from where I live and a friend (retired from the Navy) and I drove out there one day to get some subs, but we missed it by about a month as it had shut down the previous month.
