This is why the Lions never mattered to me as the #1 seed... it is more about the 2 seed, or getting the bye.   The Lions will be lucky to win in their first playoff matchup.

Wow.   Ticky tack call, especially considering the previous possession 'incidental contact' was allowed to go.   Consistency is key to proper officiating.

It’s more about getting the bye week for rest.  add on in the divisional round you are likely facing niners if you are the 2 or 3 seed if the lions got the 1 seed. I’d rather not have to face the niners in the divisional round and in the nfc title game instead.

Of course... BUT, if you clinch the 2 seed early, then you can treat the last week as the bye.     But, losing HFA to the Lions still means hosting the NFC CG for the Birds, assuming they clinch the 2.   But, obviously, 1 is always best.

That might have been another fumble.   ~10 yards of field position difference.

Detroit's elite line getting worked in pass pro today.

It also means it’s highly likely you face the niners an entire round earlier. Imo rather not have to face the 2nd best team in the nfc in the divisional round. That’s a blood bath type of game and like when teams face the eagles you get beat up physically. Same with the niners. I feel like you want niners nfc title game cause then you get a bye week before the SB to recover.

Divisional round is going to be tough no matter what. Likely Cowboys if we get the 1 seed.

That play sucks for GB too.

How is that not RTP?

Made up for it with that carry.

Rather face Dallas tbh. I don’t think they are nearly as physical as the niners. The eagles and niners are the 2 teams that physically will beat you up. Also i wouldn’t rule out the lions as the 2 or 3 seed losing to a team like the Vikings.  So might get a niners vs. Dallas divisional matchup.

Not sure what you are arguing here.   Obviously, 1 is better than 2 for a variety of reasons... but my point was, not getting the 1 seed and losing out to the Lions in that scenario, meant the NFC CG still ends up in Philly.   It wasn't anything to do with the matchups before that or not, just that its not the end of the world or the Super Bowl hopes.

Because Jordan Love doesn't get the calls Mahomes does.

Glad they didn't go for that. Lions had at least 3 most likely if they don't get it.

That's exactly what my point was.   I don't see the Lions winning a playoff game at all.  Whatever game they play, whatever matchup they get... they look like a 1 and done team.    If they get the 2 seed, and the Eagles are likely playing the 7 in the divisional round.   If they get the 3 seed, the Eagles likely get the 6.

So, Divisional round for the Eagles would likely line up with Seattle or Minnesota/Packers.   So, obviously that's a much better option than not getting the 2 seed.    Moreover, it forces the 49ers and Dallas to beat each other up in the divisional round before coming to the Linc.

Any chance Dallas gets upset?

It’s a division game so you never know but they have had the Commanders’ number.

Olson wanted to see the Packers line up for a 72 yard FG attempt!

Edit:   I am mistaken... he was pushing for a 66 yard attempt with 5 seconds left.

damn

Jake would have hit that.

Is the assumption the lions lose in the divisional round so the eagles get nfc title game? Cause if lions make it past their divisional round opponent they’d host

I will say this, if the Lions get the 2 or 3 seed and wind up having to face the Vikings or Seahawks. there is a chance they get upset. if it’s the Vikings would be the 3rd time they’d meet in 4 weeks.

Is the free kick off a tee or something?

Top part i agree on. However if the lions get the 1 seed they get a bye and they are likely gonna face dallas in the divisional round. As i don’t see eagles or niners losing as the 2 and 3 seeds. So good chance Dallas beats the lions but you are going through niners the  Dallas (in Philly) to get to a SB and playing an extra game on top of it. If the lions are 2 or 3 seed and they lose then you are getting that Vikings/Seahawks in the divisional round whereas it’s likely niners vs. cowboys in the divisional.

that’s why I think it’s more important that you get the one seed because I think lions get upset. You would have an easier path to getting to the Super Bowl. might only have to face Dallas or the Niners instead of having to face both.

Happy Thanksgiving Blogsters!

Yes.  That was exactly what I said.  They are a one and done playoff matchup.  There is a major chance they get 'upset' by whomever they matchup against.  They aren't that good.  They are taking advantage of a really really easy schedule.  Their SOV isn't much better than Dallas'.  They really benefitted with the timing of that week 1 matchup against KC.   If they played them now with Kelce and Jones... they lose that game.
